A LAND BUT LITTLE KNOWN. Aeak Pepulatione, olmate. and Great Nat ural Advantages of tenoeu-eI. Venezuela ie situated in the torrid zone and is bounded on the north by the Carib bean sea, or sea of the Antilles: on the south by Breall and a territory that is elaimed by Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru; on the east by British Guiana and the At lantic ocean, and on the west by the United States of Colombia, writes Don Nicanor Delet-Paraza envoy extraordi ary* and tminatesr pnitentiary to the United States, in the N.ew EnRld Magazine. Its territory comprises 1,52,741 square kilometers; it is therefore three ttmes the else of France or Germany, and Ave times the size of Italy-lartertkan any European country exceepting Russia. Its coast line, mneasuring 8,020 kilometers, contains thirty two ports, fifty coves, and many anchor ages, without eounting the outlets of its many navigable rivers and the inland ports of its lakes. The largest of these lakes is Lake Mireaibo, whose surface messurres 21.728 square kllometers. On its shote is situated the handsome city of Maraoaibo. The surroundinl country is very fertile, nd there are many ports that give exit to I the agriocultural prodaucts of the immense 1 bet of the Cordilleras. Within the territory of Venezuela. 1,047 rivers have their headquarters. Many of them are navigable like the Orinoco--which is the second river of South America-the Apure, the Portugues, annd others. They run through the great zones into which the country s naturally divided-the zone of agrieulture, which measures 849.488 squares kilometers, the pasture zone, 405,313, and I the virgin or forest zone, which has an ex tent of 797,940 square kilometers In these t three sections there is a great variety of ellmates, and almost everything esan be cultivated to advantage. There are only two eraseon-the rainy, which is called win ter, and the dry, ealled eummer. The high land or region of the Cordilleras, enjoys a delightful climate. The tops of the moun tains are covered with snow, which, besidess adding sublimity to the landscape, is en attraction to European immigrants occus tomed to a temperate climate. The statis tical resord tells us, In favor of the climate of Venezuela, first, that the mortality rate is one in forty-five, and the number of per sons reaching 100 years is one to every 10, 000. Venezuela contains a population of 2,000,000 inhabitants. A Leader. O Since its first introduction.
