March 18.-The fact has just coma to light that before the ship Cyrus Wakefield sailed for San Francisco on Fri day morning two dynamite bombs were found in the hold. In consequence of this two officers of the ship refused to sail on her and remained in Now York, I ositive in the belief that there was some scheme afoot to sink the craft before she reaches Ean Francisco. 'I he story of dynamite found among the cargo of the ship was told by one of the officers of the ship who re fused to sail with her after finding the dyn amite, and is as follows: The first case of explosives or bombs was found two weeks ago, when the ship was loading. It was discovered by a stevedore between lumber streaks on the port side of the ship, with planking laid over it. The dynamite was was in an iron cylinder, from the end of which protruded a bunch of matches. A piece of sandstone was suspended above the notches in each position that once at sea the plunging and rolling of the ship would cause the sandstone to sway against the match, thus igniting them and causing the dynamite to explode. This discovery caused not a little aprre heonslon among the officers and crew but as there was no address on tlhe case or any clew as to how it came to be in the ship apprehension was allayed and the work of loading was continued and the instance soon forgotten. There was also a large consignment of oil in casks. By coinci. dence or otherwise this oil was stowed al most over the dynamite. Just one week after the first bomb was found consternation was create. among those on board by the finding of a second bomb. This was the day before the ship was to sail. The second bomb was like the first and was placed similarly, with n train of powder leading from a small ovening to a bundle of matches. On finding the second bomb Capt. Morton refused to go to sea on the Wakefield, and 'nother officer also de olined to ship. Another captain willing to take the ship out was found, and on Fri. day she put to see. The Cyrus Wakefield is a wooden ship of 2,700 tons register. She carried a general cargo, and was fully in nu:ed, as is the cargo. If you are tired and never hungry. Hood's Sar saparilla will make you feel strong antd well Senators Voorhees and Turoie and Con pressman MeNagney accompanied young W. E.
