HELP IS PROMISED[ UY ER TY"S TEAM CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO AID IN SALE OF FOOTBALL TICKETS NEXT MONTH. At the meeting of the executive committee of the chamber of com merce last night the members recom mended that the stores and offices in the city be closed for two hours on the afternoon of the football game be tween the state agricultural college and the state university, and that the chamber of commerce undertake to promote the sale of tickets to the game, at a price of 50 cents, in order to secure as large an attendance as I possible for the big game of the sea son. The students' association of the uni versity has assumed a guarantee of $500 for the expenses of the visiting team. This is the largest guarantee ever made for a state team, and was made upon the recommendation of President Craighead, In order that the! people of .Missoula and the local stu-. dents might witness one big game this' season. When the matter was brought up atL thq chamber of commerce meeting lastI night, there was no dissent whatever to the proposition that stores and of fices be closed for the afternoon, and Secretary 'Ferguson will interview merchants and office men today, to secure their personal agreement to the proposition. It is a practical vay to ,boost the students' association inter gists. The date of the game has ibeien .changed from Saturday to I'riday, No -vember 14, and here is a chalnce fiort Mtissoula men anld womolen l1 show their university spirit. When ,ccre tary Ferguson calls today or t,lnor row, he should rccci\ve a cordial wel come and a pledge for thl.e purch:als of tickets. BASEBALL LUNCHEON SET FOR NEXT WEEK VWhecther Missoula is to have a base hall team next season, or it' the matter is to drop as far as the cbhamber of commerce is conicernedl, will ic dec'ide at a noon-day lullcheonl to ib hell next I Wednesday. The qitestionl of a base hall team for next Year was brought b)efore a menetilng of the executive comn mittee last evelillng, and it Was deCidei, that the matter Was one which should he passed on by the entire membershil of the chamber. For this reason a general meeting if tihe cihambler of commerce was called for next \\Wednes day noon, and upol1 the vote taken at this luncheon will depend thii fle ofI the sport. The executive colnmitteel was in favor of icontinuillg baslebll il t5issoula, hut hesitatedt to take any finial action. on a lmatter which it be lieved was one for general iiscussion. Many of the business men have asked that the commercial body take over the financial management of the team, and are of the opinion that Iaseball is a valuable asset. The question as to tht extent of this sentiment will bie de cided upon at the luncheon, where all will have an opportunity to haillo on the question. FIRE-DRILL RECORD AT cENTRAL BUILDING The committee of the school board of the Missoula. district which has been inspecting fire drills was espe cially well pleased a few days ago with the stunt it carried through at the Central school building. This is one of the largest buildings and has a big attendance. The members of the com mittee slipped into the schoolhouse without even the janitor knowing of its appearai:ce, and turned in the fire alarm. There was a scurryinlg and scampering from every roolm, and the building was iemptied of pupils and teachers in just one minute. This is I considered a wondlerfl1 recor'd, and shows the efficiency of thle drilliiing that has been done. VOCAUIST LEAVES.
