EoiTOu litHALD: It ti:ig!it be of. interest to some of your readers to know that a company has been foi mod and i:icorpora;ed for the purpose of working the mines situ ated nb'mt 23 miles north of Phoe z.ix . ' The corporation was com pleted to d iy by the election cf offi cers etc. The capital stock con sists of $200,000, divided into 100, 000 shares, valued at $2 per share, and are made non-assessab'c. Twen ty thousand shares are set apart for working the mines, and we desire to say through your paper that if the people of Phoenix and vicinity will encourage this movement, the mines will b : fully tested, and if we are to have a mining b.om it '"ill shortly come. The company has incorpor ated fviur as good pro.-peets s there are in that section of country. The mines show up well from the sur face. The ledges are large and well d. fined; the'tmetal is copper anil silver. The object of the company is to sell shares and appropriate ihe money to working the mines, and just as soon as $300 can be raised, the work will be commenced, and the pcop!e who aid this enterprise may rest assured that no money will be squandered. The company in tend, as soon as ore can be taken from the mines to justify, 1o procure a smelter for reducing the ore. The company have decided not to go in debt, and the d veloping of the mines will depend on the willing ness of tho people lo aid the enter prise. We do not ask the people for large subicriptions to this stock, but to take such amounts as they can without injuring themselves, and we firmly believe that in less than twelve months the company wiil be gin to pay divideuds. The R-d Rover mine did not have one-half the showing on the surface that the mines of this covnpmy have. An assay made to day gave 40 per cent copper and $14 in silver, from ore taken from the surface. The four mines of the company are located on two different ledges, two claims adjoining on each ledg-, and the ledges about one-half mile apart. No expense of making 10a Is requred. One party has already offered to sink a well at the min- s take his pay in stock and guarantee plenty of water and no water no pay. If the people can make the com pany rich by investing a small, amount in stock, who can calcul ate the amount of wealth it will add to this city and valley. It will soon be proven whether the people de sire to have the mines opuned are not. Ores f;om the company's mines will be pi ced where every one can see them and no advantage will be taken to enrich the com pany. Tue question now is will you invest in stixik? T he name of the company is the Arizona Consolidated Mining find Smelting Company with headquar ters in rhoenix, A. T. Mining Expeiit. . v Ie-laratlou of Inde pendence. When, in the course t t human tvents, it becomes necessary for one people to digest tbc giub which they get from another, and to declare among the powers of the earlh their eternal separation from hunger and Ijpepsia, a right which Nature and Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare vh cause which erables them t-c separation We hold these tvidonW That and Dave C. Wi-al will itcjsllo plant twenty acres in vines is a question quite frequently a-,ked. aud from a gentle man who has kept a careful record nf his expenditures since starting his twenty acre vineyard we obtain the following for the first year: Firbt plowiug, shallow f 30 00 Furrowing in squares 5 00 H ater 12 00 Hire of 1 ibor for irrigating .. . 12 00 Deep plowing GO 00 I'O.OOO cuttings.. 40 00 I'ianting cuttings CO 00 Plowinsr out for second irriga tion Wat-r and labor Plowing in Cultivating twice Hoeing 10 00 24 00 10 00 CO G) 20 00- Total f343 00 And for second year: Pruning 5 15 00 Plowiug out 10 00 Water and la lor 24 00 Plowing in 10 00 Cultivating twice CO 00 Slaking including cost of stakes, labor, i ope, etc ... 240 00 ToUl $.359 00 The expense of the third year would be a repetition of that of the second year, deducting the cost of staking, and adding $50 for addition al labor. By m.tny vineyardi.its staking is considered su;;crfl'ious, iind that partieulai ly heavy item of expense is dispensed with, Howevt r, when it is borne in mind that alter three years, vhtn th (redwood) .'takes can b" removed, they are w.irth from $4 io $-5 per 1000, it will be seen that the expense is not so large as it w.;u!d first seem. It is assumed in the abeve table of cott that all the work necessary is done by hired helo. If one is himself a "worker," the cas li expenditure will of course be materially lessened. The cost of fencing is an impor tant item. A first-class rabbit-proof fence ought to be five feet h'gh, po-tn of 3x4 redwood, base board of redwood plank, the upper scant ling of Orego n pine, and the lath should be talf inch and fastened with four nails.
