We learn from Judge Wm, F. Vil
barn that oo Sunday last a large Dum
ber of negro troops were roaming about
his place, shooting around, and upon
his ordering them off, threatened io fir
upon him. At night, hearing- a noise
among hi hogs, in a lot near the bouse,
he went out and found two fellows in
the act of carrying otf as maay hogs
which they had slaughtered. Upon
pursuing them to the camp, the thieves
passed the lines without hindrance,
whiie the Judge and his servants, who
were pursuing them, were fired upon by
the sentries. The Judge found four of
his hogs gone on Monday morning.
On the same night aoout fifteen ne
gro soldiers entered the bouse of
Henry Champion and Milton )I.ieey,
at the C'rots Keys. At Champion's
house they broke up all his furniture
and cut up bis beds, and would have
killea him had he aot secreted himself.
FaiLng to find him, they next brutally
insulted a yocng lady, an inmate of his
family.
At Ailaaaey'a they attempted the same
hellish outrages upon his wife, but lor
tunately, she wa able to give tbem the
bp, and, though far gone in pregnancy,
tenor gave her a speed which saved
her Irora brutal violence. Tbe Judge
could cot tell us whether any other vio
lence was inflicted at Massey's but there
have been numerous attempts to out
rage the whit) ladies of the neighbor
hood. Since the negro regiment has
occupied that camping ground, twenty
three of his. hogs have been stolen
