He was a nulivo of Cork, Ireland, hav

Endowed wilh the fatal gift of genius,
he, like his friend and oompuniou, the bc
roio brd I'houias Davis, unrolled the
"green banner," and struck his birp with
a hot hand and patriot mill,
1 He was an noiive merulier of the Young

Alter thoro was no longer any hope for
success, he lied lo New York and wrote
for tho 'Oilincn,' then conduotej by the
oolvliratcd Irish patriot, John Mitohell.
llienun was a poet, orulor, journnlisl,
wit, aud man of rare literary attain

became ouoof the editors of the New Or

It is lo bo' regretted that the poems of

parts; the first, "Uren'au in Ireland," by
Dr. R. D'Alion Williams ; and tho second,

iiroimu's songs strike tho reader for
their deep, great passion, emanating form

His beautiful poems, "Thanntos,"

great merit, are too loug for quotation.
The exquisite, stanzas "To my wife,"
