our town, I only occasionally see communl-
cations iu your paper relative to the vari
ous matters of interest frequently transpir
ing here, one or two of which occurring
lately being of more than ordinary Im
portance, tho first being the success that
has attcinlfd the effort of our citizens who
undertook the erection of a cotton
lar.tnry. Alter long and patient
work, together with the expenditure of a
larue sum of money, their enterprise is on
assured success, and last week they sold
their llrst bill of goods, baled thread, which
was pronounced equal to the best and
.bmiiL'ht "ton liimres." They have several
oilers from luri;e linns north and east to
handle all their manufactures, and the day
is not far distant when Terrell will be ex
porting thread, yum. ducking, nsnaburgs
and that idast of goods. The lactory is now
giving employment to a largo number ol
man, wumen'and children, which force will
be doubled in a few weeks. The
manneors being unable to obtain nil the
labor necessary to run the entire machinery
in this vicinity are contemplating sending
east to the crowded manufacturing cities
for help. If you will come down anil go
through the factory where everything from
tha miip of the entitle to tho rat tle ol the
looms or subdued burnt ol the thousands of
aoinclles besneaks system, skill and enemy.

this undertaking Is ti measure ol no small
importance to Terrell. Net in importance
conies the "oil mill" an enterprise that is
destined to be of great bcnclit. All the
machinery has been purchased mid the
buildings being pushed to completion, so
that they will be ready for operations by
next full. Hacked by plenty of money in
the hands ol mon who do not know the
word fall, it will be all that it proposes.
The want of a good hotel has been se
riously felt here for some titno, which your
eorrcxpondunt learns is about to bo sup
plied, as sevaral of our citizens, amply uble
to do so, are contemplating the erection of
a good brick this summer, a matter which
becomes niore Important since the Central
railway tins contracted with our people
to have their road running here in time for
tlio next cotton crop, '
To-dsv has been rendered eventful in the
history of Terrell by the burial ol one of its
old pioneers, Colonel Georgu W. Carter, the
last nf four mon to whom not only Bur
town but the entire county owos a debt of
lasting gratitude for their enorgy ami seal
ho cfllciently directed toward advancing our
material prosperity. C. 0. Nash, one of the
original owners of the land on which tho
town was built, died several years ago of
consumption. R. A. Terrell, for whom the
town wns named, died of the samo disease.
John (1. Moore died of dysentery two years
ago, and now the last of tho four is gono.
Colonel Carter has been alllieted with the
dread malady, consumption, for soveral
years, against whose steady advances he
made a gallant fight, but to no avail. Yes
