Cochran of Wichita Falls visited friends here last week. The members and friends of St. James A. M. E. church will hold a rally Sunday for the purpose of raising educational money. Mrs. W- P. We understand that his little daughter Cary Bell is very ill at Jacksonville. Mrs. Harriett Mansel is ill at this writing. Information' has been given out that the peach crop is a total loss. Announcements come to inform the farmers, that the Farmers Coun cil of Cherokee County will convene at Jacksonville, Saturday, April 17th and all farmers are requested to be in attendance. Mrs. Carr, and Rev. M. Hollts graced our streets Saturday. Mrs. Anna Bell Cleaver visited in Nacog doches last week, the guest of Rev. and Mrs. Horney Cleaver. Mrs. Kate Cooper visited in Jacksonville, Thursday, the guest of her son, Mr. Ed Johnson and family, she return ed home Sunday. Messrs. A Jolly party of gentlemen auto Iflts motored over to Hubbard City, Sunday to see Dr. Russell. The party consisted of Drs. Fridla, Web ster, Vandavell, Mitchell, Sorelle, Clemons, Connor, Messrs. Malone, Furlow and Dennis. They report that the road- was very bad in places, but they made good time. Dr. RURsell was delighted to see them. He seems much improved. All of Waco was shocked last Sat urday evening at the sudden death of Mrs. Alice Williams of Ivy St. Mrs. Williams was about her usual duties all the morning was down town at 1:30. She boarded a car, went home and was stricken with a stroke of apoplexy and died In two hours. Mrs. Williams was an estimable Christian woman who was known and loved by a host of friends. She was of a cheerful dis position and devoted to her church and home. She leaves a husband, Mr. T. S. Williams and a daughter, Mrs. Luclle Williams Randle to mourn her loss. Mr. Johnnie Baker left last week for Odgen, Utah, his new home, after spending a week or -two with friends. Mr. Harvey Dixon is reported to be ill- The big union revival at St. James started off with a zest and from all indications the evangelist will have sin on the Jump. Pastor- S. E. Jones of St. James is bringing things to pass. They contemplate building a church this year. Cupid has been busy of late the following marriages were the re sult. Mr. C C. Rhone and Miss blllie Vernal, Mr. Wright Hays and Miss Mabel Lawson. The funeral eulogy over the remains of Mrs. Alice Williams were held Monday evening. Mrs. F. D. Tatum was able to go to her work Monday morning to the delight of her many friends. The District Conference of the Waco District, which convened at St. Luke church last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, was . a success from all angles. Presiding Elder Moten, with the aid of his faithful ministers, is doing a good work on the District. The South End Civic club Is do ing a good work. Wichita Falls Base ball club play ed two post Beason games here Sat urday and Sunday. Wichita won the Sunday game 11-4. Monday they loss to Waco by forfeiting a 10 Inning tie 7-7. The Dallas Buffaloes will Invade Waco on the 21st, they are coming one hundred strong, bringing their own band. They will give a full dress ball at Taborlan park. The Waco Business League held an open house smoker, Monday night. They discussed many questions of interest to the growth of the city in a business way. The flu is dying out gradually and our doctors are not so rushed. Dr. A. S. Jackson came in Monday night from Taylor, where he was called to address the District Con ference presided over by Dr. W. S. Johnson. Rev. Gathings of La Grange, was in the city last week. A new company of twenty people from New York is showing at the Gayety. St. Paul Notes. Because of the fact that the church Is Just entering Into a big revival the Pastor, Dr. J. F. Wil liams took a text that proved the need of a revival for his morning service at the close of his discurse all present felt that a revival was much needed. The annual sermon to the Heroines of Jericho was preached at 3 p. m., by Rev. Wil liams. The Sunday night services were well attended. Collections for the day $150. Thursday night Lawyer Wm. Har rison spoke to a large audeince at St. Paul. ' Dr. HarriBon seemed at his best and pleased his audience every moment of the time I New Hope Baptist Church Notes. Before the sermon was ended there was not a dry eye In the house. The Holy Spirit was truly present. At the evening services the "Lord's Supper" was celebrated.
