of Pilot Point were here Sunday.

RufTin Smith, an old and highly
respected citizep of Harrison Coun
ty fell dead in an automobile. He
has been ailing for some time, and
had Just come in from Little Rock,
Ark, where ho had been visiting his
daughter. Funeral attended Tuesday
April 13; laid to rest in the family
cemetary. He leaves several grown
children and grand-children and a
host of friends to mourn his loss.

Mayor Nichols personally had ex
tended a welcome to Col. Smmons
and after Dr. E. Arlington Wilson
of Dallas, bad introduced him, the,

the. fair grounds for ten minutes
cheered the spokesman of his race,
speaking here Wednesday afternoon
Dr. N. J. Atkinson, who was a
delegates to the Lincoln League con
vention at Chicago, in February,
presided. From Mt. Pleasant, Paris,
Honey Grove, Commerce, Green
ville, Rockwall and nearly every
other town within fifty miles, dele-

have been announced as candidates
for delegates at large from Texas
