ONCE OPPOSED THE R. F. D. (A communication.) Editor The Independent. - I heartily, approve of the action tak en by the Perquimans County Chamber of Commerce, in regard to stock law, which resolution was in your nauer Sept. 9th. We can never have improved stock as Jong as they are -permitted free .range. Our stock must be- given atten tion if -we want the best, and this age is, or should be, demanding the best there is in everything. I hope Pasquotank,, and our other sister counties, will take similar steps ' in regard to stock law. There are people who are conserva tive enough to fight for . what our an cestors lived and practiced. They seem to forget that we are living in a later day and must walk in the light as it is shed on us. Well do I rememhpr wli ment was first Lave R F. D. mail system, that some uj. our peopie opposed it. Since this system has proved satisfactory, the see their mistake. Tho srn'k 1 ers will doubtless adntit the same, after cms law raises ettect. J. F. WHITE. Sept. 19, 1Q21. They Love to D Their Duty.- Aa English clergyman has declared that ft is woman's duty to dress just as well as she can afford. We have yet to meet a woman who Is lax in her duty in this regard. -
