To all to whom these presents shall
come-- hrer ting.
Whereas, TUESDAY. the lath day of Febru
ary. 1577, popularly known as Mardi Gras, is
the annual Fete Day of His Most Gracious
Majesty the King of the Carnival, and that a
proper respect may be given to the day, and all
our loving subjects be enabled to join in the
festivities of the occasion, thus tegtifyiog their
unswerving allegiance to our House and Per
son, it is hereby ordered and decreed:
1. That all existing forms of government.
whether in statu quo or otherwise, civil or mili
tary, are suspended Iro.m all an hority during
His Majesty's reign, and are required to at once
signify their al'egianco to his authority.
2. That, to afford the chilren of the realm an
opportunity to join in the ovation to their sov
