On account of repairs, Capt. Terrebonne has
chartered the Eurekla, and will have her at the
landing to-day recelving to leave to-morrow at 5

Capt. Terrebonne Is a man who leaves no eff'rt
untried to please, hobud hopes hid friends may con
tinue the patronage so liberally extended to him
while in command of the Stella Block, W. J.

The John Howard brought down the shafts,
flanges and Oylinders of the Homer. The Homer,
it will be remembered, was sunk at Camden
during the war.
The A. C. Donnally leaves Cincinnati to-mor
raw.
Don't forget the Lower Coast packe, Emma.
This is her day for leaving, and she is sure to go.
The Maria Louise leaves for lied liver B: ur
dT.he John A. Wood arrived yesterday. Her tow
conslsted of 24 boats containing 490,000 bushels
of coal, part of which she left at t Donaldsonville.
The Cotton Valley, Capt. Joe Carlton will be
found at the landing thbls morning, receiving to
leave Saturday, her regular day, for Oamden.
The elegant Mary Houston will arrive this
evening and leave Saturday, positively, for COi.

The Atlantic, with two barges, from St. Louis,
arrived yesterday.
The Berths arrived yesterday with a full load
from the Atohafalaya. In accordance with an

mnand, Mr. Theo. Jobin clerk.
The Sherlook, for the Ohio had 00 passengers.
The John Howard, P. C. Montgomery master,

ST. Louis, April 7.-The Fanchon, Katie P.
Kountz and FannyTatum left for the Upper Mis
souri. The Fanchon had 250 tons, and the Tatum
350 tons and 25 people for Fort Benton. The
Katie P. Kountz had a good load of freight, but
no passengers. The Ashland is due from New
Orleans on Meaday, and loads at once for the
Yellowstone. Two towboats and six barges also
leave for the Yellowstone during the week. Com
modore Davidson will run the latter orafts. Capt.
S. B. Coulson arrived here yesterday, and leaves
for Yankton to-morrow. He has eight steamers
under his control, all of which he expects to em
ploe in carrying the Montana freight this season.
Col. L. A. C. mpbell, of Vicksabrg, was on
'Change and left,for Springfield, Missouri, where
he owns a farm. He will examine the cotton
compresses here, as he, Mr. Lamkm and Capt.
Pansot, under style of the Mississippi Compress
Company, are about to establish one in Vicks
burg.
U1. 8. Yerkes, an old-time river captain, but for
several years past police judge at Little Bock,
was defeated for re-election on Tuesday last.
A boatman, wrecked on the Ella in Arkansas
the other day, was heard to remark on the land
ing yesterday, that a man could stand on the river
bank, near Swan Lake Ark., and throw a stone
on five different steambnat wrecks, all sunk and
lost within the past three years.

A NEw LIFE-iAvINoeRAr.-The "Flexible Life
Saving Raft" is the name of a new invention
which is soon to be introduced on Western rivers.
It is composed of a number of spars, 25 to 30 feet
long and t/, to 4 inches in diameter, connected
at the ends and at the middle with a set of
wooden slab-shaped hinged floats, containing a
number of independent air-tight compartments
of tin. The sprs are several feet apart, and the
spaces are tken up bl a suspended apron of
strong net-work (marline,) feet deep. The
spars and the floats ar connected by ropes, so
that the appalratus is perfeetly flexible, sOd,
