Any Ierson know. ing where any of saidl ofiloers are will confer a great favor upon her by addressing Mre. B. E. Gray. Xenia, Ohio. rT. Louis, April 23.-Capt. J. B. Davis, of La Orosse, who, with Capt. D.vidson has secured the contract for transporting freight on the Yel lowstone, purchased on Monday, frim the Dis. mend Jo Packet Company, the steamers Arkan. sas and T'ilal Wave, together with four new barges. This will make fifteen steamers that the Keokuk Northern Line will have in commission on the Missouri and Yellowstone. There is now at IBismarck, awaiting transpor ta'ioi,, about twenty thousand tons of freight, mostly material for the construction of forte. About the e1st of May, when the boars oimmence running, there will he upwards of eighteen thou sand tons at Blsmarck. The four barges pur chased in thils city will be tie first iealt of that kind that have ever been Introduced in that far off, country, and Captain Davis proposes to show the natives and 'croakers' that these valuable a' quisitions to steamboats can be profitably usced on these rivers. The government agents will also take with them, when the friight is moved, six hundred mechantis to aid in the construction of Utited itates forts, bridges, etc. The new steamer Gon. Ouster built by Com modore Kountz, draws 15 incites light. With F50 tons of freight, her draught of water is 3 feet 3 inches. The coal trade about Pittsburg, Pa., is a colos sal enterprise, and as the larger share of the fiuel nsed in the cities along the Mississippi valley, as well as steamers plyin in touthawestern waters and the Mexican Gulf isdrawn from that vicinity, all information regard ng tills industry will doubt less be interesting to many. During the first four. teen days of April shipments of coal down the Ohio river were 5,3110 bushels the moat of it being for Cincinnati and Louisville. During March there was loaded and shipped southward by river from Pittsbnrg 11,808,201. bushels, and during February 8.86J.950 bushels. There was also shipped over the Baltimore and Ohio sail road to Plttsburg from the mines along the Monongabela river during March 9,87J tons, and by the same road East 9,608 tons; 18,788 tons in all. The N. and 0. road carried away in the same about 5800 tone. The cost per bushel of coal loaded in pool No. 1 is 3 cents, in pool No. 2 it is 4 cents, and in pool No. 4 about 21/ cents. A general move is made to reduce minig to 2 cents per bushel, which will be resisted by the miners, and at present not half the works are operating. There are too many miners in the valley, and there is a general exodus to other parts. Navigation was open to all points on the river during the entire month. Much time was taken up during March in repairs to damages made by the late disastrous breaking up of the toe and shipments fell below those of the same month last year. The ontlook is not encouraging or April, partly owing to the lack of water cratf and partly to slack business. The Keokuk Northern Line are now running thiough to 8t. Paul. MARINE NE WS.
