Poite vent, Frank Parg od, Henry T'l'ete. DEPARtiuPs -Iabel, Blue Wing No. 3, Robert Young, Leesie Taylor, J. H. Hanua, Col. A. Y. Konne, Thos. Sherlock. To ALalavs-Assumption, Euro k i, Ella Hughes, Lafourohe; Charles Morgan. eluennati; Robert Young, Mary Ida, Blue Wing No. 3, upper coast; St. John, Baton Buge; GOv. Allen, dayou Sara; Carrie A. Thorn, Red River; ;ity of Augusta, Arkansas. Yesterday was a warm day, but notwithstand ing the heat there was a very fair amount of business done. 'Ihe Lesesie Taylor had a very large trip, the Col. Kane and Shb'r ock very fair ones; the Shel lock also had about 60 passengers. WHAaiAOnE.-The steamboat reen think their time has come for some of the good things that they enjoy not. Our city authorities allow the rmerohauts to use the levee fur warehouse pur poses. They have allowed railroads to build tracks along the already too narrow strip of land lug. Schooners and barks are alowed to occupy the wharf popularly suppose I to br, reserved ex clusively for etearmb ets, and in their liberality they allow everybody to do pretty much as they please. But the sleambo men aloneare held up to the rack. Their inut rest are passed over. Favors to them with one i o ,orable exception, are dealt out with a niggard uand. Mr. Charles Cavanao is the exception. He hise d ,e much to improve the con i ion of the landinge--tevry thing, in fact, that could be expected. But there is a greater duty cet to pe, form-the duty of re ducing the wharf charg, e. If Mr. Cavanae will take this in hand he will do a service that he will find properly appreciated. Capt. Scovell informed us yesterday that work was progressing rapidly on lie new lower c aset packet. She was contra attd for to be ready by the let of August, but from the way the work is being pushed it is very probable that she will be ready by the let of July. The famous Charles Morgan is due and posf tively leaves Saturday for Cinooinnati. Albert Stein commands the Morgan, Harry Stein clerk. The attention ot shippers to layou Lafourche is particularly called to the fact that the Eureka is the only departure to-day for the bayou. She leaves regularly every Ihursday and Mlinday at 5p.m. 'The Cotton Valle , J. W. Carlton master, Messrs, Gilruth and Reeder clerks, leaves Satur day, without fail, fur the Black and Ouachita through to Camden. The W. J. Poitevent arrived from the Tenses and Macon Tuesday night. We are requested to say by Capt. Sullivan that the Poitevent will make but one more trip this season, leaving Sat urday week, June 2. She will be taken over to Algiers, whets one will remain until Wednesday next, when she will be brought to the wharf, ready to receive freight. The City of Auustaes will be f:und at the land. tong to-day, from the Arkansas River, receiving to return Saturday without fail. The Augusta is the only boat running through, and as she car ries freight cheap as the next one, our m rchants should give her the prefere.oe. Capt. John El liott commands, Mr. Joe Elh tt clelk. The Natches is due to-night from Vickeburg, and will return, as usual, Saturday. The Bart Able leaves Saturday, as usual, for Alexandria and Grand Ecore. Stanard, due to arrive, will be the next departure for St. Louis. "the steamer Marie was a 11 last week at Pen. sacola, Fa., by the United States Marshal for $400. Mr. J. Dennis Wolfe was the buyer." This is the Marie run in the lower coast trade by Capt. Bassett. She was built originally for Mr. Chas. T. Howard, of this city, for a pleasure boat, and cost wlth her outfit $17,000. The T'lompaou- Deru lewvuw hbur fur Ciuucl - nati, Saturday, June 21. Rooms on this magnifi cent ate mer can be secured in advance upon ep plication to Wayne & Williams, agents, 106 G av ter stieet.
