The steamer Blue Wing No. 8, from the upper
-oast, arrived yesterday.
The steamer Tom Parker, from Jason's Ferry,
arrived yesterday evening with a fine lot of
stook.
The steamer Yasoo Valley from Vlcksebrg,
ith a good trip, consleting in part of 105 bales
cotton, 40 sacks cotton seed, 810 sacks oil caks, 5
hogsheads tobaeco, 184 packages Ifr, and a
large sundry list, arrived yesterday.
The steamer Dart Able, from Grand Eoore, one
of our most popular and regular packets. arrived
on time yesterday. Her cargo consisted in part
of 16 bales cotton and 288 head stock.
Tine Entriken went out as second clerk of the
Katie. Harry MoOrindell is off to enjoy a short
h.oliday.
The splendid passenger steamer Golden Oity
will arrive to-day and leave to-morrow, posetively,
tor the Ohio.

down the Bayou Lafourohe to the month, where

The Memphis Avalanche says of the Alice
BrowS's tow : A part of her tow was several
barges of Shotwell lower Ohio coal, the first ever
edrt to the New Orleans market for sale.

was laid on the Marin Ways yesterday. She
will be completed by the middle of October. 0.
T. Dumont nas already cast both cylinders. and
has nearly completed her doctor and nigger en
gine.
LoUImVILLE, June 20.-New Albany has been
wise enough to reduoe her wharfage over one
half. This looke like they had men of business
over there.

There was a fair attendance on 'Change yester
day iooluding the usual number of boatmen.
reight offerings for the South were a little more
active, In consequence of which it is expected
that a large steamer and a towb )at and barges
will get away for New Orleans during the week.
We venture to say that during the next three
years there will be more new steamboats built
and more money invested it river commerce than
during any like period since 1800. Many things
combinoto strengthen this conolusion. A large
number of boats will have to be replaced by new
ones on sooount of their age and inadaptability
to the times; then the European war has al
ready stimulated agriculture, which will have the
effect of largely increasing the amount of pro
duot to be moved. A demand for tonnage will
then spring up, money will flow back to the
river; boat yard and river men will be given em
ployment, and an era of prosperity will have
been inut urated before w ars awarAtof it.
Mr.xl'us, June 25.-The towboat Ke)stone
was sold by the Marshal to-day for $1080, Capt.
J. J. Darragh being the purchaser. Capt. t.
Hicks bought the barge Shaleross for $490, to be
used . a cotton seed barge, and W. D. Lucae
bought the MoCallum for $4653, to be used for
staves. The two flats and all made the sum real.
Ised reach $2400. The total claims against the
fleet is $2020. Capt. McFarland, who traded a
farm for the feet, will kave but very little left.
The Warner and tow txchanged with the A. J.
Baker, and passed south to-day. The Jo. B.
Williams and tow passed south, leaving her tow
here while she sounded the shoal water below
'~sat's Idand. The Alice Brown and coal
.-,rrived safe. The Petrel left for above, to
day, after patching her boiler.
