If its continuanh e depends upon its prompt delivery, we are very sure that it will not last but will be in creased. The Postmaster General has rendered a double service, in creating the route, and in entrusting it to a company so well able to carry it. Don't f ,rget the Willie to-day; she leaves with. cut fail for the Bayou Teche, and all business enatters entrusted to her are promptly attended to. The St. John was unavoidably detained Mon. dea and did not get away until yesterday morn ing. She will return in time to leave on Friday s aesal. OCapLMat Romvsll,.ho for some time past has been in Texas attending to business matters of the Bed River Transportation Company, has re turned and leaves to-day in chArge of the Bon nie Lee's office. Mr. H. O. Booaman. who has had temporary charge of the office, will enjoy his respite by a trip to some of the springs. The Col, A. P. Kon follows the Lee and will leave Saturday. The Eureka, in place of the Blue Wing No. 8, leaving this 10 a. m., is the only departure to-day for the upper coast as far as Dnald onville and the Ashland plantailoh. The Biue Wing will be ready to leave Saturday. The Trenton will be nere to leave Saturday for the Opeloumns. The Lessei Taylor lays up. The Bertha came over to the landing yesterday sad leaves to-day, In the Taylor's plsoe, Capt. H. H. Broad in command, Theeo. Jobin clerk. The Berths has been put in the most complete order, and looks au pretty ae a daisy. Capt. Tronsdale is repairing his recent pr chuae, the Big Stunfower and will bring her out as soon as business justiies, possibly next week. She Is a No. 1 boat, large, roomy and comfortablb. Capt. Gos. Wolf and clerk A. Byers are both clever and attentive offoere, and do everything possible to make the trip pleasant. The James Howard is advertised to leave St. Louis to-day. The steamer Eureka, from the upper coast, ar rived last evening. The Sunflower Belle arrived Morday. She comes here fir repairs, and will leave Saturday for the Sunflower river. The dandy Frank Pargoud looking like a dandy in her new dress, will be at the landing this morning, receiving to leave to-morrow for the Bends. The Katie will be placed in readiness for the 4omiag season. The fast and fine weekly Ouaohita packet John H. Hanna leaves to-day for Onachit city. The John Howard has been laid up. The towboats B. M. Norton and Wam RIberts have formed a barge line, to run between this city and Evansville. Capt. Henry Ealer is the "tother" pilot of the Lotus. Dxarn or CAPrT. Ds HAnT-The Oldest Iloat man in the West.-Yesterday morning Capt. Rob inson De Hart died at his residence in this city In the 65th year of his age. He had been con fined to his room for several weeks, and suffered greatly during his illness. Capt. De Hart was the pioneer of the Western waters as a steamboat. man, and has successfully commanded more boats than any other captain. He commen~ed his career as a sailor, and as early as 1811 seled to Bouth America. In a few years he was pro moted to. be muter of a ship, and at the age of eighteen was captain of a Vessel, a first-class ship, and made a highly profitable voyage to Liver. pool. In 1818 Capt. DeHart had charge of the Or leans, a boat bails at Pittsburg, we believe, and made a trip to New Orleans with her, the first boat on the Western waters. She was lost by striking a snag the following year. Prior to this Capt. Delart was engaged on the Clermont, a steamboat built by Robert Fulton, and was on her on the North river during the years 1807 and 1808. At the time COpt. DeHart navigated the West. ern waters a trip to New Orleans was an impor tant event, and great skill, prudence and perse ýerane were requilred to complete the voyage, all of which he possessed in an eminent degree. He huas had charge of a good many boats, among whloh we can sow recollect the followlon: Vesuvla. Altra, Volcano. towboat Hercules, Plough Boy, Paragon and Java. The last named as the leat boat he commanded, on a trip to the Waba h. De Hart retired from the river many year ago, settled in this city permanently, and was made government inspector of the halls of steam boats, which office he retained until 1852, when the new steamboat law was enforced, and another selected to fill the plae. He ha also acted as portwarden for several years past, and up to the time of his death was engaged by the insurance companies of this city as Inspector of huballs of steamboats, the underwriters relying entirely upon his knowledge and judgment, which were never known to falter. He was a warm friend and a kind father, and leaves a large family and hosts of friends to mourn his loss.-Loulsville Journal, March 18, 1854. [Oapt. The Eva, Tom Taylor mas er, Capt. John O. Vallette and Ernest Reinhardt clerks, leaves to day at 10 a. m. for the lower coast, through to Port Eade. The Eva in connection with the -arths, carries the mail daily and runs on sched ule time. The Eureka (in place of the Blue Wing No. 3), J. A.
