Houston completed and ready for business by

A general meeting of New Orleans steamboat

ments for the ensuing season.

Pittaburg to-day, in the interest of the Hlara
taria Canal, the itilot from New Orleans to the

last, Capt. Cunningham and Engineer Siher
wood selling their interest In the boat and her

day, formerly of the Ohio No. 4. We understand
Capt. Halliday intends putting cargo boxes on
the barges and running the boat and barges in
the Cincinnati and New Orleans trade this

Owners of flats and barges, look out. Under
a decision of the Secretary of the Trensury.
every rnodel barge. Runnel tharge, flatboat. or
vessel of any description engaged in the const
ing trade, is liable to enrollment and license
and payment of fees incidental thereto. Barges
or flats carrying the following articles of mer
chandise, or freighting the same, are en
sated in the coasting trade, viz: Vessels with
rick. stone coal and coke, minerals and
metals of all kinds, wood, tan bark, staves. hoop
poles lumber, barrels, salt, grain of all kinds,
ete. Tbis class make return trips. The only
exemptions from enrollment and license are,
first. vessels that gather and carry sand and
stone within the lim:ts of the city; second. ves
els that make a single trip and do nt return,
but are broken up, or sold to go on further and
then broken up. Persons or companies owning
vessels liable to enrollment and license as above,
and not already enrolled and licensed, are re
quired to report the kind and number of such
vessels that they are the owners of to the Sur
v.or of Customs of this port. so that said ves
sela may be put in conformity to law. Every
barge or vessel must have her name painted on
her in letters of not less than three inches in
Ie nth-whlteetters on a black grotud. Under a
failure to put the name on a vessel in aeordtnce
wi, this regulateon, a pensty of fifty dollars
