Pilsbury, Mayor, pro 8ldlng, and Administrrators Brown. Cavanac, D)ents, I)amondl. Edwards and McCaffrey. The Mayor stated that the ordinance Iadopted on Tuesday last, relative to the repair of tihe revetment lever, was not ac cepted by the (,lmpany. Mr. McCaffrey opposed the resolution In its present shape. He thorught the committee appointed should report back to the Council. The resolution, as it, now reads, gives them full power to act. lIe was olpp,)sed to giving the committee that ipowr. Mr. Cavanac :Aid it was understood that the Committele would repolrt to the (inulrlcil. Mr. McCaffrey moved to strike out the words "to take suchl action as they ImayV deem necessary," and insert in their stead "who shall report to the Council tie best means." The Mayor appointed as the committee to report on the wharf controversy Admni nistra tors Denis, Brown and Cavanac. Administrator 1)enis was excused from serv Ing on the committee to revise the rules gov erning the Crosceint City Polic,. and the Mayor appointed Aldministrator Brown in his stead. The ordinance relative to the floating debt was called up and laid over. Pctitlonx. From residents at New Lake End, corn plaining of the erection of a bath-house by Charles Hoyt. Ilfoerred to Messrs. Cavanac, Edwards and McCaflrey. Mr. Cavana. stated that Mr. Hoyt had com menced build(ing without permission, and that the edifice was nearly completed. IHe moved thatthe Mayor he instructld to notify Mr. Hoyt to cease work till the matter is decided. Carried. From Crescent ('ity Live Stock and Slaugh ter-House Company, fr reduction of assess ment. One of the palpe'rs had Stated that he was absent from the nim.ting yesterday anld "could not he found.' The hour appoIinted for the meeting of the Council was 11 o'clohk. e was in the Council chamtbler from live min ute to 11 till fifteen minuotes after 11. One Iof his coll'aguls went out to try to find onei of the absentees, and h, +iMr. McCaffrey) then stepped into the hall with on, of the contrac tors to examine ceirtain specilications. He was absent but a few mnenlts, anld u(hiring those few moments was only a few steps from the Council chanmber: yet when he returned he found that the nlust ing had Ieen adjourned till to-day. He, therefore, did not consider it just that he should l repolrt,,d as absent and "'not to be found" w.lºin important uu,iness required attention. The Mayor stated tha tthe1 statemIent of the Administrator agreedl with his recollection of the facts. Mr. Denis moved that the secretary be in structed to amend the official minutes so as to show that Mr. McCaffrey was present at the meeting yesterday. Adopted. The Council then adjourned. THOS. G.
