The speeches will be nonpolitical
In addition to Mr Bryan and Mr

q Mr Tafts acceptance wee obtained at
a Cincinnati recently when a committee
t of prominent members of the Associa

the Republican candidate I
1 Mr Bryan agreed to be present dur

called from his bed at 1 A SI at Terre
Haute and the matter of the Invitation
discussed The Democratic leader ap
e proved an acceptance and Mr Moouj
was today notilted of the fact
The coming together of the two men
at present looming largest In tho pub
lic eye was made possible by the Deep
Waterways convention at which from
three to live thousand delegates are ex
pected to be present
As this movement ns well as the Chi
cago Association of Commerce Is non
o partisan It was felt that the occasion
was an excellent one of the meeting of
the two candidate In extending both
t Invitations the nonpolitical motive of
the banquet was emphasized and it li
believed that both Mr Taft and Mr
Bryan will confine their remarks to I
waterways and possibly business mat
tens It is hoped to secure the attend
ance of J Plerpont Morgan and a com
mittee of the local organization left
here today for New York to call upon
i the financier
