V-THE WBEKLY TRTBUNE, a very large paper, % Country, u pnbhsl>ed every Saturday morning, at jovr price of $2 per annum, in advance. THE TRIBUNE. lima Sylvania Association. In answer to many Inquiries from all quarters, uf may briefly state that this body is steadily per? iling it* organization, and confidently expects to Ji into practical operation this Spring. The se Lijsn of its Domain has not yet been made, hav been delayed, among other causes, by the back tjgrlncss of the Spring and the superabundance of which still covers the earth. Many propo to sell lands on advantageous torms have al? ly been received, and an intelligent Committee practical men will soon set out to visit the Io? ns deemed most eligible, with a view to prompt lion. It is intended that a pioneer detacb 3t of seventy-five meR, (some fifteen or twenty mj?ani?d by Lbrir wives,) shall be on the nd by the middle of April, and that three or #hundred more shall join them us soon as buiid Yfl, Sec. can be provided?probably in October at lirtbcst. This i* an earnest attempt to organize a Com? munity fur Social, Industrial and Educational pur pa? on the principles first set forth by Charles Furier, or by an application to Agriculture, the IrUjund to Business generally of the Joint Stock pnteiplos which are less perfectly adopted in the )|jtual Insurance Companies, Life Assurance, lVaaiing Voyages, &c. of our time. Every mcm j^invesu his pecuniary means, or such portion f as he stipulates, receives stock therefor, .Iridis paid a dividend thereon. Every member lj?o invests his or her Labor, and receives his or requitable proportion of the products of the ?sociation. Agriculture and various branches of snufacturing and Mechanical Industry will bo ottcuted on the Domain, under the direction of most skillful and experienced members in each Apartment, profiting by all the inventions, im? plements, machinery, &c. of our time. la this toy, the labor of each will be directed and made ?indent by the highest wisdom of all. I f.'iie advantages of the Combined over the Iso ' ^ri" method of prosecuting Industry are many ;itd great. The following ate among them : 1. Economy in Agriculture. One-half the 3, ploughs, carts, &c. &c. with one-fourth of j Iii fences, will answer a bolter purpose on one jirge Domain that the larger number would sub : jeve on a hundied petty farms. The advantage ? having a largo force at command in saving crops , iposed to destruction by the elements, in plant : :r,hoeing, itc. just when retired, is very obvious. 2. Economy of Time; Out-door avocations be g prosecuted only when the weather favors, with ready resort to in-door manufacturing employ tmts whom the skies are forbidding. Much time lud must be wasted in ordinary farming for t of such an alternative. 3. Household Economy. The cooking, &c. for hundred persons associated may be done with labor and fuel than of one-third the number di? ed into separate households of half a dozen ' ii. The labor thus saved may be usefully em feyed in other vocations. (, An Association, supplying in the main its Ajnts with the products of its own labor, and buy and selling only by wholesale, will escape of the heavy lax now levied on Productive industry by the necessary profits, customary fraud* t'ji enormous waste of time of retail Tiade, which .'oploys and pay* a large class of the communiiy '.lining what can better be dispensed with. 15. Freely chosen and unfailing Employment for ?J, wearing Drudgery and anxious Care for none. A thorough Education blended with Labor forevery (flild; Libraries, Lectures, Philosophical Appara? ts with the highest Intellectual and Sosial ad pwtages for all. Such are some of the improvements in the con? dition of the Laboring Mass of Mankind which the mends of Association confidently expect to realize ad extend to all; such are the advantages which lie Sylvanians hope to secure to themselves and cJtnmend by their example to others. Bad as Hu xan Nature is, it is believed to be a fact that some Bmks, Insurance Companies, &c. have been hon frtly conducted; and it is expected that men will was faithful to themselves as they have been to ?liers, especially if placed in circumstances which tfard every temptation to uprightness and scarcely toy to baseness and treachery. This Association already numbers a sufficiency rfeatnest, enthusiastic, intelligent members, whose fsaracters for integrity and virtue hava stood the >'? of time and scrutiny, to enable it to go imrae lately into operation full-handed and with energy. h is deficient only in pecuniary means (the com coo want) wherewith to purchase advantageously "id prosecute its enterprise with the greatest eifi ciency. It therefore appeals earnestly to the fore? handed und philanthropic to aid it (should they sot choose ut present to become members) by sub ?eriptions to its stock, which will be carefully in ?ested in valuable, productive Heal Estate only, md dividends paid regularly thereon until the re Mdent members are enabled to purchase it. The ZiNCALl.?The deep and universal interest excited by Mr. Borrow's 1 Bible in Spain ' has led Mr. Winchester to repubiish his former work, entitled 'The Zincali,' and giving a full and au? thentic account of the Gipsies in Spain. The re? markable author of these werks spent many years in intimate connection with the singular people whose habits and character he here describes, mingling with them in their excursions, becoming fully possessed of all their history and secret learn? ing, and almost identifying himself with them in feeiings, tastes and habits of life. The deepest enthusiasm could alone have urged him to this, and he tells u3 at the very opening of his book that he can remember no time when the mentioning of Gipsey did not awaken feelings in his mind, hard to be described, but in which a strange pleasure predominated. The adventures which befel him during his protracted stay among them arc of the most pleasing and often romantic character: and the style in which they are described is remarkable for its freshness and vigor. A bold originality marks the whole?no less conspicuous in the strange scenes in which it led him to mingle than in the beauty and felicity with which they are recorded. So marked was Iiis partiality for the Gipsey race, and so strong the impulse which led him 10 spend among them so long a time that the Gipsies them? selves could account for it only on the supposition that the soul which animated his body had at some previous time tenanted that of one of their own people. Apart from the absorbing interest which belongs ta it as a History of a wonderful Race but slightly known, the book is among the most attract? ive of the season as embracing incidents of stirring personal adventure. Appended to the work is an original collection of the Gipsey Songs and Poetry -with translations into English. We are confi? dent The Zincali will bo heartily welcomed by the public. DCPMacaulay's Miscellanies have reached their second number in the neat and cheap edition of Messrs. Cory & Hart. It. contains his eloquent though often superficial and incorrect paper on Lord Bacon, with a review of Boswell's Johnson, Nugent's Memorials of Hampden, Nares's Me? moirs of Lord Burghley, Dumont's Mirabeau. Walpole's Letters, and one or two other papers of the same stamp. Macnulay will always command readers, for he is the most 'popular as well as the most brilliant reviewer of tiie day; and his papers, whatever respect they may command or lack some score of years hence, (a minor consideration, to be sure,) will never fail of admirers among those for whose immediate perusal they are written. To those who read his excoriation of Croker and Bos well, we commend the equally severe and appa? rently far more just reply he receives from Chris? topher Norlh, in the ' Noctes Amhrosiante ' ; and his exposition of the Baconian Philosophy, though its brilliancy and vigor may remain, will lose much of its dignity and character for truth by a study of | the 4 Novum Organum,' and a perusal of Cole? ridge's profounder Essays upon the same subject in his ' Friend.' The numbers of Macaulay may be had at this office as they successively appear. 03" No. 3 of the Farmer's Fncyclopkdia has ust been published by Carey & Hart, and may be had at this office. For the practical Farmer, as well as for every one who would become acquaint? ed with the details relative to Agriculture, this will be found to be by far the, best publication of the day. It is made up of nrtioles from Liebig. Brande, Thompson, Johnson and others of the most celebrated scientific men of Europe, and is adapted tu the United Stutfs by the Editor, Mr. Johnson. It is pubi^ln-d in a very neat style and will be completed in sixteen numbers, each one to be illustrated by a beautiful engraving. rjCf Israel Po5t, ?b" Bowery, has sent us the April number of Graham's Magazine, which we have already noticed.
