M. In Stocks the market is very buoyant, and very active. The sales of Fancies nre very large, and nearly every dencription advanced. At the Second Board the SRlea of Income Bonds were large, reach? ing 180,000, and the quotations advanced to 91}; showing b 4? cent, rise from the lowest point. The expositions which have been recently made of the business of this concern, has satisfied ovary one the safety of tl ose Bonds, and brought large orders for investment into the market. Withtho Incjincs the Second Mortgages and Stock sympathized, but in a less degree. Tne Second Mortgages improved -{ +? cent, and the Stock went to 7CJ, buyers thirty, and wan in demand. For Norwich and Worcester Scrip, 511 was bid. There are several orders for this Stock for investment at the Board. Mch&wk sold at 82, showing 2 4jv cent, improvement within a few days. Morris was active, and ad??nced to 17|, Long Island also improved a litile. Heading and Harlem were bath in active demand, and ad vanced. The strongest party appears to be now in Reading, which bas been operating in that Stock for seme time. The leading brokers of Philadel? phia, New-York and Boston, are together in ther opinion of the ultimate value of this stock, and are operating accordingly. One party in Boston, it is stttcd, has made -950,000 this year in this stocK ? Thee WRfl a disposition to buy Harlem, and tha rate advanced to 61 {, nt which it closed firmly.? The Importance of the Intension to the Western Road is beginning tobe appreciated, and this with the favorable atato of the regular bugioeas of the Uoad, has brought in considerable orders for the Stock. Tbe Trustees, under tho arrangement al 'uded to, aro Messrs. Shepherd KEapp, and Morris Ketchum of New York, and Alexanda H. ilolloy of Lekeville, Conn. The parties who have undertaken to build this extension are Messrs. Qeo. L.Schuyler, Sidney O. Miller of New-York, and Ooverueur Morris of Morrisiania, who a ree to complete the Road for two millions of dollars, which they are to receive in certificates bearing 7 4P cent- interest.? Theso certificates are a lien upon tho new portion of the road, and upon that only, and have no claims upct the earnings of tho old road for interest. The Harlem Compauy is to run its equipage over the new road when completed, tho expenses of such working to paid from the receipts of the now road. The surplus earnings of the new road, after do ducting expenses, are to be devoted to the pay? ment of tho interest on the; two millions of certifr 1 cates issued as above. 8'r.ould this surplus be in ' sufficient for the payment of such interest, then the receipts from the old road, from the business de? rived from the new road, are to be refunded to the extent of three-fourths, for the purpose of making i up such deficiency. Twenty-two miles of the^new road are to bo completed by tho Rh of July, 1851, and the remainder to Chatham, by tha 4th day of .Inly, 1S52. One million of the certificates are con? vertible into Steck of the Harlem Railroad Camp?. ' ny at par, any time within five years of the com pletion of the connection with the Western Road The agreement also provides for the ntlo of the new portion of the road incase the interest on the certificates is in a;rears for two yeirs, or in caaa the certificates are not paid off at the end of twenty ! years. The arrangement is a very favorable one for tbe Harlem Road, and is in effect that it ob 'ains a connection with the whole web of Northern roads, from whLh to draw business without being Squired to provide any funds to make such con ntctior, or to become liable for any interest in tho . cost of such extension, and it has the privilege at the end of twenty years of takicg the extendsd ? road at cost. There was a good inquiry for Gov? ernment Stocks at better prices. Tne Sixes of l?b'7 were wanted at lltJj, and Fives of 1S53, sold at 103}, which is an advance. A ami-annual dividend of 4 *? cent, oa the oxpi tal stock of the Albany Bank has been declared. A Isrge auction sale of Linens was had jester day, and low qualities went at very fall prices.? Tne better qualities were not in go-d demand? There were also sold 400 packages of Bmi.n Wool len ard American Cotton goods at full ratis. The Dunkirk Journal says : Tbe work on this erd cf tbe Western Division cf the New-York and Erie Railroad, is rapidly progressing. From this place East, several miles of iron are already laid, ard the superstructure of about ten miles more will be ready for the iron during this Fall. The first link in the Bailroad leading from Je! fersonville, opposite Louisville, to Indianapolis, was opened on the 7th inet. In relation to tbe condition of the 8chene:tady acd Sarratega Road, tho Albany Argus says : In passing over this infamous road last Sammer, we noticed several of these " snake beads," and considered the travel positively dangerous. We stated tbe fact at the time that iron has long since been purchased for re-lay ing this road, but remains rusting in tbe hards of the directors. The public have long enough been imposed upon and tbeir lives endangered by the narrow minded and con? temptible policy which has been pursued on the 8. and 8. road, and we trust that no effort will bo spared to bring the condition of the road?which could easily be made to pay a dividend of 8 per cont a year?fully before the public, through the action of the Legislature. The Whitehall and Rutland Riad, for tho build, ing of which Mr. George L Scbuyler had the con ttact, is nearly completed, and an engine will run over the Road on Tuesday'next to Castleton, a jew miles from Rutland, which is the terminus of the Whitehall and Rutland Charter. The link be? tween Castleton and Rutland is beir-g buiit by the Rutland and Troy Company, and will be completed it tbout a fortnight, when New York will have a direct and rapid connection with Rutland. Jodge Edwardohas refused an injunction against the Hudson River Railroad Company, asked by Mr. Hamilton Wilkes.on the gruut.d that in assess? ing damages for lands takeu, the Company had proceeded under their Charter instead of under the General Railroad Act. The chartercalied for three Commissioners, whose residence and tho mode of nomination were not fixed. The general act for five, who should reside ;n the country where the lands lie, two from the nominations of tho land holders, a like numbor from the nomination of the Carnpaoy, and tho fifth by the Court. Tho Court held, delivering an able opinion, tha1 the mode of fixing the- damages provided by the charter, atcod unaffected by the General Act. The injunction having been denied, the Company wili of course proceed with tho construction of the Road over tho lands acquired under these pro ceedings from Mr. Wilhea, without further inter, ruption Tho same order was also made in tho case oi Mrs. Margaret Livingston. It it stated on tho authority of the engineers, that ti e Geiesee Valley Canal wili be navigable to Oramel, in Alleghany County, in tho early part of next month. The Wheeling section of tha Baltimore and Ohio Rsildtoad is being poshed with energy. Two thousand men and horses are now employ? ed upon the Ohio and Pennsylvania Railroad. A company lias been organized undor a charter to construct a railway from Chillieothe to Gailio poh's, through Jackson, designed as a connecting link between the Virginia works which terminate atthernouth of tho Kenhawa, and tbe Belpre and Cincinnati, and the Sciota and the Hocking Valley roads terminating at Chllloothie. Tho distance fnm Chillieothe to Galliopolis is 65 miles, and tho Bciota Gazette assures us that 15 miles of the lino aro tho richest mineral regions of the valley of the Ohio. The whole line, it is said, is more favorable then any in tho Great Western lino from Boston to Springfield, in Massachusetts. The extent of the trade between Baltimore and California may be inferred fram tho fact that .lu? ring the first six months of the pesont year tlio value cf goods shipped hence to the gold regions amounted to ovor one million of dollars. Tha ship? ments in each month were valued as follows: ? January, $050,000; February, $234,962; March $226,002 65 j April, $128,171 29; May, $86,950 93; j June, $75,193 10; July, $105,724 72?Total, SI, 107,004 69.
