On Monday nicht Inst, I was colled upon by several gentlemen ol said Ward, who stated to me that the political primary* meetings of the-Ward had. on several occasions, been unsatisfactorily managed, and urgingly requested me to consent to run as a candidate for Assistant Alderman in opposition to the regular nomination. i prematurely con? sented, but the next day, upon due reflection, addressed the Secretary to withdraw my name, and regretted that I had fo done, as I did not wish to engage in any political strife; therefore 1 do not consider myself a candidate at the coming election. 1 think i had given them sufEcient notice to pre? vent any further action.
