A prof*s?ion was then formed, with the Preii.
dent and hia Cabinet at the head. Got. Hant and
suite, tbe invited gueita, the oncers of the Com?
pany, and the citizens. It marched down Cente
to Frontitreel, through Front to Lion, op Lion
to Third-it. and thron, h the Depot home, where
the public were invited to partake of the Bar
beruf, when waa in readineai. The President
und the invited gueata of the Company paaaed to
the Loder Home, where a collation had been
prepared by the citizens of 1) inkirk.
After the arrival of the trains, the banners
which bad been preaected by the village! on the
line of the road were taken to the Loder Home
and diaplayed from ita roof. That preaeDted by
the citizena of Newburi/h waa very betutirul. On
one aide waa a ahield surrounded by tbe namea of
tbe President and Directors of the road, with the

under the auspices of Thomas Downing, jr., and
in partner, William Rudd. In the immense
dining room of the Loder Home two lone ublei

uries. There were trout from the Lakes, oyiters
from James River, lobster aud halibut from the
Ocean, hama from the great Pork Metropolis, 1

tain, and all these were garnished and put upon
tha table with that grace and neatness that is
