For tlie last four months a ping of thieves lia ve been operating in a number of railroad stations near this city, on the Hudson Uiver, thc New Haven nnd Hurt ford and Baikal railroads. The robberies weiro potty, but caused, of course, considerable annoyance. Two arrests were made yesterday morning nt'1-cmont. which, it is thought, may throw some light on these robberies. On Saturday night the railroad station at Scarsdale was broken into and the contents of a trunk he longing to Mrs. G. B. Tone, the wife of a Wall Street broker, stolen. Some articles owned by the Station master. George rilmann, were also taken. Mrs. Tone's trunk contained among other things a handsome reception ri ress. The trunk was In the can- of the American BlpreM Company, by which it had been sent from this city to Scars? dale.
