TRADE IX CHICAGO.
Chicago. April 32 (Special).— Corn showed l^c to
Jvic advance for the day. This market was started
by the advances at St. Louis and Kansas City; but
tho trade here became so enormous tr at the
fitrenßth in the Southwest finally became sec
ondary. Kansas City prices, however, made a bet
tor advance than the Chicago. Cash corn there
touched 66c. St. Louis took 100.000 bushels cash
corn h«-re. Shorts were the buyers of futures, par
ticularly the bears of St. Louis. May opened at
[M sold between H%C and 61?ic, and closed at
«v' July closed at 61\c sellers and the September
at 60 * c To-night's prices are 2c to 3c better than
last Saturday. It has been a case all week of
small receipts and decreasing stocks. Primary re
ceipts were only 144.000 bushels to-day: primary
Khipments, 347.000. Cables were strong. There was.
however no Eastern demand for corn; it was al
most entirely a Southwestern situation, the sort
tha» existed last fall. The buying of futures to
day was led by Harris-Gates. Barrel, Ware Le
land and Weare. Cudahy did some selling, profit
taking on long corn. Clearances were 160.000 bush
els. There were only €3 cars here; only 65 esti
mated for Monday. ' :^^'

prices are 2c to 3c higher than last Saturday. The
