March — James Roach. a member of the lower branch of the Legislature, was cut under the left eye with a pocket knife In a fight with Stat« Senitor John L. Bradley in the Madison Hotel lobby at 7 o'clock this even ing. Bradley is n led as the. author of many drastic bills in behalf of mining and laboring men. Roach represents the mining district of Southwest Missouri. "I am a miner,"' Roach is quoted as hiving ■aid to Bradley, just before the flght began. "I know what the miners ■rant, and you are only fonr-flushlns around and playing to the galler ies with your bills." A few words were exchanged, and then Roach attempted to hit Bradley on the Jaw with hi* fist Bradley began to wield his pocket knife. When bystanders separated them Roach was founa to have been cut under the left eye. Brad ley was unharmed. Roach, after he had cooled offT'sought Bradley for the purpose of apolo gizing, but Bradley cculd not be found. VADCO FORMS A RAILROAD CLTJB. Big One Has Broken — Area of Disturbance Smaller. ' [By Telegraph to The Tribune.] Plttsburg. March 4. — The huge sun spot, whose discovery by John A. Brashest-, the Allegheny astronomer, two weeks ago aroused so much in terest in scientific circles, again came into the range of vision of dwellers on the- earth this morning, and was observed by Mr. Brushear and Professor J. Schlesinger of the Allegheny Observatory. It has passed its prime, however, and is greatly decreased in size. The spot of two weeks azo was really com posed of a great many spots, with one Immense one as a nucleus. The combined spots had a diameter of 133.000 miles. The spot observed to-day was about 20,000 miles in diameter and is believed to be the nucleus of the great spot. Three other sun spots, ranging from 8,006 to 10,000 miles In diameter; were also seen. Th spots observed to-day were seen on the western side of the sun. They will be visible for ten more days, during which they will gradually pass to the eastern side and then disappear. Professor Brashear believes the big spot may survive one more rotation. Sun spots, he ex plained, generally pass away after one rotation of the sun, which requires about four weeks. Fitzpatrick, a wealthy ro:il estate operator, was taken into custody, charged with conspiracy to violate tho interstate com merce laws by sending lottery matter from Mo bile to Brooklyn. Fltspatrick is alleged to have conspired with the president of the Honduras Lottery, a pro moter, the commissioner who conducts thedraw tiujp, :i;vl the head of the company's plant at Puerto Cortes, Honduras.
