Until there reports, which will go ex haustively into the subject, have been carefully considered the question of consolidation will be an open one. An official of the United States Rubber Company was quoted yesterday as saying: that nothins; would he done "unless we find that such a merger will tend to strengthen the position of our company." A statement that the capitalization of the combina tion would be in the neighborhood of $150,000,000 was characterized as "pure guesswork." At a meeting yesterday of the board of directors of the Rubber Goods Manufacturing Company, con trol of which has b«-en acquired by the United States Rubber Company, the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: diaries 11. United States Rubber Company and the Rubber Goods Manufacturing Company wan made here to-day. It Is understood that the stock of. the Rubber Goods Manufacturing Company will Boon be liquidated and payment of dividends on the common stuck discontinued. The United States Rubber Company and the Rub ber Goods Manufacturing Company are not com petitors, the products of the two companies being of such a different nature that the corporations have been able to maintain a profitable co-opera tion.
