S.— Crop damage reports of an alarming character brought out an avalanche of buying orders on the Board of Trade to-day and caused sharp advances in all the leading cereals. At the close wheat for September delivery was tip I%c to 2c. Corn was up VAc Oats were %c to 3i'c higher. Provisions were unchanged to 7^c higher. 1 The opening in the wheat market was excited and strong, apparently all commission houses hav ing seemingly unlimited orders to buy wheat. The result was a wide fluctuation in the initial quota tions, -with the price in some Instances more than 2c above Saturday's closing figures. The new crop months showed the greatest advances. Following light recessions, owing to profit taking, prices again advanced toward the end of the first hour until May touched SI 01%, December ST^ic and Septem ber 94% c. The bullish sentiment was entirely due to the news from the Northwest, -where the new crop Is said to be in serious condition, owing to black rust and high temperatures. One report claimed thai black rust has appeared in the wheat fields of Manitoba, and revised estimates have cut down the yield of spring wheat from 25 to 40 per cant. Realizing sales quieted the market toward midday, but prices were well maintained through out the remainder of the session. The market closed strong. Septerrber opened %0 to %c to l\*c to l?sc higher at 93c to 93& c. advanced to 84% c and closed at 9i ;l ,c. December closed at 96**0 and May at II 11 -,. Clearances of wheat and flour were equal to 352,900 bushels. The visible supply de creased 1.892,000 bushels. Primary receipts were 1,711.000 bushels, compared with 1.531.000 bushtls the corresponding day a year ago. Minneapolis, Duluth and Chicago reported re ceipts of 72S cars, against 696 cars last week and 533 cars a year ago. The corn market also opened excited and strong, owing to the continuance of excessively high tem perature over the greater part of the corn belt. Reports from Central Illinois asserted that the new crop was beginning to "fire" owing to the hot. dry weather. This news brought out additional buying: orders soon after the opening. Trade con tinued extremely active all day, and, despite lib eral profit taking, the market held strong. The September delivery did not show bo much strength, relatively, as the distant futures, which at the high point of the day were S^c to 2»ac to 2^c above Saturday's closing quotations. The market closeci strong, with prices near the top notch. September opened l^ic to IV higher, at 76>4c to 7<%i sold between 76c and 7C%c, and closed at 76lic De cember closed at £".!.,<- and May at 65^c. Local receipts were 221 cars, with 25 of contract grade. Oats displayed considerable bullishness because of ihe hot weather in the Northwest, but the market was quieter than In wheat and corn. Th« greatest strength and activity were in the distant" deliveries. September opened »^c to %c to 7 *c to lc higher at 45% cto 46c. sold at 46% c, and closed at 45? 4 c. Lo cal receipts were 257 cars. Provisions were weak at the outset, owing to a fir to lee decline in live hogs, but the market rallied on baying, inspired by the strength of grain. The rlopf was ■m. with September pork up n|c at $t5 S7U. f.jir.: was up '■■_■•■ at $9 62^. Ribs were unchanged, at $9 05 ■ $9 07Vi- E«timatfed receipts for to-morrow: Wheat. 659 car*, corn. 266 care; oats. 2*3 cars; hogs, 13,000 bead. LOST BASKTJOOKS. LOST.— Bankbook Na 6SS.IS2.
