Th« hearing before William Grant Brown, r«fere« in th« proceedings brought by the Attorney General to ascertain If a milk trust exists, continue* to elicit testimony that milk can he sold at a profit in N'cw York City for el^ht cents a quart. Henry Hum ii a Brooklyn milk dealer, testified yesterday that lie was still selling at the eight-tent price, and hud no Intention of raisins it. He wai asked if be cared to volunteer any statement. "yes," he replied, "1 would like to pro test against the policy of tin- railroads in giving a l^ 1 - per cent discount on carload lots. The .--Mian dealer never gets a chance to take advantage of it. It was started first by Burden's, and now other hit; dealers jji 1 be discount." It was a simple matter uf transftf. and he sa he always looked upon the new exrhan* as a continuation of the old. Charles Voßtp. another dealer, said that his stock was exchanged In the same manner. W, B. Tonklin, president of the Orange County Milk Association, produced a print ed form, which he called a circular, but which the faimers are said to regard as a contract. It stipulates prices for six months from date of Issue and lays down several regulations which the farmers are expected to obey. The witness said that he did not regard the paper as an agree ment, but changed his mind when it was brought to his attention that one of the rules provides that any farmer who falls to deliver his stipulated amount of milk to the company before the expiration of the six months forfeits "as liquidated damages a sum equal to 50 per cent of the amount due him."
