AFFECTS GARDINER HOUSE;
NORTH OF 64TH STREET.
DEAL
'Site in West S7th Street Bought for Loft Building— Trading
in Other Zones.
Bales of modern dwelling houses in the
choicest resldental districts and of mid
town parcels were features of the real
•6tat© market yesterday.
One of the principal transactions reported
was the sale by Lewis B. Preston for the
♦«tate of Charles A. Gardiner of No. 535
Fifth avenue, a four story brownstone
dwelling, on lot 25x135 ( feet, between 6ilh
«nd &th streets.
Th«* house, which was held at JSoO.OOO.
was bought by Mr. Gardiner from Anna
B. Bliss in November, 190$. only a short
time before his death. Adjoining It. on
the south, is the home of Frank Jay Gould,
and at No. 833 Is the home of William Gug
genheim. On the €4tn street corner stands
the house owned by the estate of George
Crocker. The Wormser and Sherman resi
dences are at the northerly end of the block.
I The Gardiner house occupies a iot 125
feet deep. It has a light and air ease
ment over an additional 'Si feet at the rear.
An important mldtown deal was the sale
by Pease & Ell i man and Albert B. Ash
forth of Nos. 12 and 14 "West 37th street,
two four story buildings, on plot 43.r>x95.9.
for Mrs. Howard Lapsley and Mrs. S. W.
' Alexander to Ranald H. ilacDonald. who
will erect a twelve story store and loft
building. This will make the fourth large
building operation in the street, which was
until recently one of the finest residential
thoroughfares in the Fifth avenue section.
The Harvard Realty and Construction
Company, which bought Nos. 15, 17 and 19
East 22d street a few weeks ago. added to
BBJ holdings ty the purchase from William
Sit B. Martin of No. 13. a four story dwel
ling house, i)6xaS.9 feet- The company now
controls a plot 120.5x95.9 feet-
It . was learned yesterday that Black,
Starr & Frost have selected Carrere ft
Has-tings, architects, to prepare plans for
their new building, which will be erected
on the site of the house at the southwest
corner of Fifth avenue and 4Sth street, for
years occupied by the late Charles T.
Cook, and the Boardman residence at No.
P* West 4Stli street. The character or size
•>f the building has not been determined
us yet, but it will probably be a six or
seven story marble front structure, for
the exculsive use of the firm.
Orders have been received by William
" H. Eirkmire from Lee Hclstein to prepare
plans for two twelve story loft buildings
to be erected at Nos. 130 and 132 West Sth
street and No. 128 to 144 West 25th street.
Both structures will be erected as soon as
plans are completed. They are to bo ready
for occupancy by December 1, 1910.
Plans have been filed for a seven story
storage warehouse, to be erected from de
signs by Alfred EL Kehoe at No. 479
Greenwich street, at a cost of $40,000, and
•. ' for a two story garage, designed by the
same architect, for Joseph A. Adler in 16Sth
street, east of St. Nicholas avenue, to cost

Plans have also been filed for an eleven
story loft and store building, 40 feet
front, on an irregularly shaped plot, at Nos.

BUYS BIG JAMAICA TRACT.
Erncstus Gulick's Syndicate Pays
About 52.000,000 for Property.
A syndicate represented by Ernestus Gn
lick has completed negotiations for the
purchase of the Busby estate holdings at
Jamaica, Long Island, for about $2,000,000.
The property, which adjoins the Jamaica
Estates tract, comprises eight hundred
acres, consisting of a number of farms
purchased by Mr. Busby some years ago,
extending from Hillside avenue to Black
Stump Road, traversed by the road run
ning from Queens to Bayside. The Stewart
branch of the Long Island Railroad runs
through the property, and there will be a
station established there in the near fut
ure. It is planned to develop the property
on the same lines as that of Jamaica Es
tates, with roads running through the val
leys and retaining the trees and hills in
tact.
LIBRARY LOT REPORT DENIED.
There was a report yesterday that the
lot. MUtea feet, at the northwest corner
Of Madison avenue and 70th street, in thn
I.enox Library block, had been sold. Tease
& Klliman said it was unfounded.
