POULTRY MEN OBTAIN DELAY Illness of One of the Eighteen De fendants Causes Postponement. The trial of the eighteen members of the New York Live Poultry Commission Mer chants' Protective Association, the so-called "live, poultry trust." for conspiracy to raise fod prices was postponed yesterday until to-day by Judge Rosalsky, in General Ses sions. In the mean time former District Attorney Jerome, counsel for the defence, was directed by the- court to present affi davits to support his contention that the }]i ne c.c; of Samuel Werner, one of the de fendants, was sufficient ground for further delay. Judge Rosalsky will also hand down to day his decision on a demurrer argued be fore him yesterday by Mr. Jerome and As sistant District Attorney De Ford, in which the former seeks to have the indictment dismissed on the ground that the provision of the criminal law under which it was found has been amended by the Donnelly anti-boycott law. LAWYER GOES TO SING SING Henry Joachim Sentenced for Defraud ing Women in Fake Bond Scheme. Henry Joachim, a joung lawyer, who lived at No. 153 Harrison avenue. Brook lyn, and had an office at No. 850 Broadway, was sent to Sing Sing by Judge Dike, of the County Court, yesterday, to serve be tween two and four years for defrauding Minnie and Barbara Voelker, of No. 10"J0 Decatur street, out of $2,500 on a "fake" bond and mortgage on August 30. 1909. The man was indicted for grand larceny in the first degree, and convicted on June 1. In passing .sentence the judge said that Joachim's conviction had been a humilia tion to every decent lawyer of the Brook lyn bar, and the only redeeming feature in the casr was that the prisoner's name will be blotted from the roll of attorneys. Joachim is twenty-seven years old. GIRDERS FALL ON WORKMEN Chain Slips and Three Men Are In jured at the Raymond Street Jail.
