At present [nothing hut cash is received for customs ' and internal revenue. i Tho banks asked for a provision of law Tto require the government to pay the cost for redemption of its own currency and the • cost of transportation between the banks • and the Treasury. This Secretary Mac jVeagh declines to do because it would cost ■ the government about $300,000 a year. j Bankers also desired to have gold certifi ! cates, payable to order, of the act of IPOO received for government dues at any place i where such payment could be trade. Thi« j the Seeretarv declines to recommend, on :the ground ihat it would reduce tho cost of ! domestic exchange. RAILROADS' BIG PROJECT To Give Boston Better Trans portation Facilities. Boston.
