merce und the New York Telephone Com?
pany at B liearlng held before the Public
8ervlre Commission. 2d Dlstrlct, matcrial
reductlons ln Albany rates wlll become
effectlve on November 1. The rates nre
to be reduced as follows: Dlrect line
business. from $90 to $72; two party Hne
buslness, from $66 to 860; dlrect line real
dence service, from $48 to $42; two party
line residence, from $36 |o $30, and four
party Hne service to resldences to be con?
tlntied at $24. In addltlon to these reduc?
tlons. whlch were prevlously announced,
Vlce-Presldent Frank N. Bethel. of the
Telephone Company, agreed that the rate
on extenslon telephones at buslneSB places
would be reduced from $12 to $6 a year.
The case ls now left so that the rates
in effect on November 1 are to be made
the new basls of the complalnt and are
to l,e the rates attacked If the Chamber
of Commerce decldea to carry the matter
further. The company anketf to have the
cntire matter adjourned untll May 1, at
which tlme complatnants could procecd
lf they saw flt, but upon tiie suggeBtlon of
President Wllllam C. Olocckner, of the
Boostors' Club, the date was fixed at
April 1 and agreed to by Mr Bethel.
