To be sure, ?fr? was ?? end oi tnese before the holiday*, but then ertertaining was i r?ly given over to debutantes, and there is a certain amount of informality .bout the affairs in their honor which (.lacking in the big dances, the balls, the dinners, musicals and other#affairs thatelways crowd the season from Jan? uary on. ^_ One of the most brilliant affairs of the week will be the dance on Friday night tobe given by Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Alexander at their home, 4 West Fifty ?fhth Street. It will be for the young Mrried set, friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander's daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Winthrop W. Aidrich and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Whitridge, and a few of the older people. _ Mrs. William K. Vanderbiit jr., who already has given several entertain? ments for her d?butant daughter, Miss Horiel Vanderbiit, will give a dance in her honor to-morrow evening at her home, 686 Fifth Avenue. All of the Vanderbiit d?butantes will he on hand, and this almost might be ?lied a Vanderbiit year, for in addition to Mrs. V&nderbiit's daughter there is Mrs. George W. The ten-day holiday period just closed was crammed full of amusements. Probably the busiest day was New Year's, when events in every depart? ment of sport added to the usual din? ner parties, teas, and dances. The day's festivities, opened with an^early morning boat race conducted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Follow? ing this a baseball contest between the Sunshine Club and Pinellas Park ?teams, played at Waterfront Park. An i other ball, game, between Tampa and I St. Petersburg, marked the afternoon. : At the golf club a blind bogey was I arranged, each entrant to play oigh ! teen holes.
