Following publication of the challenge in the Metropolitan press, approximately one month ago (see reproduction above), hundreds of motor car owners and representatives of dealers and manu? facturers visited Lexington showrooms in New York and Brooklyn to personally verify the original an? nouncement that only two conditions would be imposed, namely, that only stock cars would be admitted to the contest and that only standard test gasoline could be used. Then, too, many of those interested were desirous of ascertaining what publicity would be given to the event following the conclusion of the contest, and especially whether the names of the defeated cars and the owners thereof or the dealers therein would be disclosed All were assured that the contest was to be conducted on the highest plane of sportsmanship?that the Lexington Motor Com? pany of New York was simply desirous of verifying a belief, long held, that the Lexington-Minute Man Six was master of the road. The seven points included in the contest cov f*?C ered every feature of vital interest to prospective purchasers of motor cars. Lexington claims of superiority are backed by the compelling fact that the Lexington Minute Man Six met all comers and defeated them with margins of victory sufficient to remove all possibilities of doubt or argument. The hill climbing contests were conducted on Fort George Hill, Manhattan; Dyckman and Eagle Rock Hills, New Jersey. The speed contests were held, against time, in localities we prefer not to mention lest officers of the law be unduly interested. This splendid triumph of the Lexington Minute Man Six was made possible in large measure be? cause of the Moore Multiple Exhaust System and the Lexi-Gasifier, two exclusive Lexington features, inventions of John C. Moore, Chief Engineer of the Lexington Motor Company, manufacturers, who control the patents. The Moore Multiple Exhaust System entirely eliminates back pressure, thus doing away with trapped gases, and by actual test, in laboratories not controlled by Lexington interests, enabled a stock motor to develop 22.8 per cent more horse? power than was developed by the same motor c c t eq*. used on onventional type of exhaust '; : ? ars. The Lexi-Gas ier is designed to afford better carburetion, giving the same power and perform? ance with low grade gasoline heretofore possible only with high test fuel. Some other features embodied in the Lexington Minute Man Six, not found in any other make of car at any price, and certain features found only in $5,000 cars, include the following: One Piece Patented Brush Frame, eliminating squeaks and rattles; providing the only known per? fect foundation for a motor car. Chassis lubrication by means of self oiling bush? ings, resulting in the use of only one oil or grease cup on the entire car. Universal Joint of the non-metallic type, render? ing lubrication unnecessary, eliminating back lash and protecting vital parts of the car. Special Brake System including one-finger emer? gency brake and cable service brake that ?^noise? less and efficient under all conditions. Two-Way Head Lamps, approved by various States, with plain glass equipment and without the use of special lens.
