Reaction in Wheal Wipes Oui \<lvanee Registereil Monday Selling Renewed on lack of Export Buying and Bear? ish Construction of Oppo? sition to Aiding Farmer A sharp reaction occurred in the wheat market yesterday and prices lost practically a'.; or Monday's ad? vance. Th% left the market 18 to 120 cents above the recent low point, how? ever, and the reaction was about one third of the total upturn which had taken place during the last ten or eleven days. The decline was due to renewed selling, prompted largely by the fact that exporters have refused to follow the advance. The only business re? ported yesterday was 160,000 bushels to France, and this was said to be in the form of covering to till old con tract?. The British buyers, who some hnd thought m ere about ready to come into the market, were rtitl our, and the only encouragement from that source was a request to local shippers to continue to make offers. The opposition on the part of Sec? retary Houston to the proposed re?n actment of the War Finance Corpora? tion received a bearish construction, as it was thought '?> be an evidence that there will be serious opposition to many of the plans proposed to sus? tain the price of agricultural products. On the whole, there was qu te nn array of bearish news, but although some authorities were disposed again to favor the bear side others wen- of the opinion that the worst of the pres? sure is over and that the world's sup? ply and demand situation ccntinues to possess elements of decided etrength.
