G. The deallncs in securities to-day took on tlio appenrance of a conulno bull speculation. The transactions In both stocks and bonds wcro the larccst in many wcoks. Iho bond market was conspicuously strons and ncllvo, and a number of Issues sold at the biclicst prices over recorded for them. Evidence of nlccilitnato demand for securities was not confined to tho bond market, but extended to tho stock list, as is sUown not only by tho larger transactions and higher prlcos, but also by the wldo distribution of tho dealings. London evinced considerable interest in American securities, both in its own market and here, in spito of tho comparatively low condition of tho Hank of Kncland's resorvo and slightly hither rates of discount nt that centre. It begins to look as if the rank and fllo of llrlti.h operators and investors might brook away from tbo influence that tho leading Lon don banking houses have exerted for somo time past. As ls well known, the leaders In financial circles on the other sido have spared no efforts for months past to avert or defer tho payment of European indebtedneis to tho United States on ordinary trado balanco by advising sales and discouraging purchases of American securities. Tho steady incroaso in the earnings of American railways, tbo facility with which tho reorganization of insolvent transportation companies has been and Is being accomplished, and the steadily growing strength and Importance of tho United States In the markets of tho world are beginning to be appro, elated by European investors and speculators, notwithstanding the persistent efforts of foreign bankers to blind them to tbo facts. Tho largest dealings wero In Sugar Refining, Drsoklyn Itnpid Transit, Manhattan Railway, Chicago, Ilurlington and Qulncy, St, Paul, North cm l'aclflo prefnrreJ, Union Pacific, Now York Central, nnd Reading securities. With tho ex ceptlon of Ilrooklyn Rapid Transit nnd Manhal. tan Rallnr, all of them closed materially higher than yesterday; that Is. thoy enjoyed net advances of a point or more. Conspicuous among tho less actlvo shares wcro dies apcako nnd Ohio, Cleveland, Lorain and Wneollng, Delaware and Hudson, Krlo first preferred, Illinois Centra), Missou ri. Kansas and Texas preferred, Laclede (Ja, Lake Shore, Metropolitan Street Hallway, Southern Railway preferred, and People's Gas. The announcement, Just toforo the close, that tho control of tho New York, Susquehanna and Western Railroad Company has boon purchased In tho Interest, of tho Krlo Railroad Company stimulated trading In the iharcs of All of the anthracite coal companies at advancing prices. Tho transaction referred to minimizes the chances of an unsettling of the nnthraclto coal market. Tho transfer of $8,500,000 from tho Union Paclflo Reorganization Committee to the United States Treasury was completed to-day without causing a ripple in tho money marker. That markot was, In fact, a little easier thanir Jus been for tbo Vft ten days. The manner la which tho enormous payments on Account of the Union l'actflo purchase have been made wltbont disturbing tho money market redounds to tho credit of tho Union Paclno Roo'rganlia. Hon Committee, Its allies among the Clearing House btnks, and tho Secretary of tho Treas ury. There was somo shading of prices toward tho close of business, as was to be expected after a continuous rl.o of two days; still thotonoat tho close was very firm.
