The speclQo chargo on which Strauss was arrested is for swindling the Northampton County Dank of Kaston, Pa., on Nov. 10, with a check thnt had been stolen from tho hall letter box of Schulberg & Lazarus at 130 Dlecckcr street, this city. It had been mailed by M. Lip schltz of Kaston, Pa., to this firm In payment of a bill. The amount on this check was changed from $02.45 to $100.45,' the name of tho payee erased, and tho word "bearer" inserted. It was then presented at the Northampton County Dank by a man giving the namo of Henry Lazarus. The shooting occurred in tho basement of William Donohuc's stloon, whoro several men wero quarrelling.
