are looking forward to the most suc

The enrolment is going to be very large
and boys are coming to us from an even
large: area than ever tx'forc. In recent
yaara our main efforts have been In the
direction of Improving the atandards
of scholarship. The result Is that our
boys are making unusual records at col

the present IhkIi standard of work only
through the aid of an unusually strong
faculty. In the coming year we shall
have the largest and best faculty that
we have ever had. One or two Im
portant additions have been made. The
must important change is the creation
of a separate department of public
speaking, to lie placed In charge of

The Bamard School system was
founded some twenty-eight years ago
and it now embraces six most Important
schools on the tipper West Side. It
has k"pt pace with the advancement
and growth of the city by adding
achoola from time to time. The faculty
of this organization. President William
Livingston Hazen. Vice-President Kath
arine lliiguenln Davis, Treasurer Theo
dore Edward T.yon, have long been as
sociated and the growth and prosperity
of these schools Is a tribute (o their
efficient management. In addition to
the educational advantages, which con
tinue to Increase the number of gradu

year, the faculty also points out that
one of the special causes that contrib
ute to the welfare and advancement of
their students are the modern school
buildings, their location and environ
ment. Reallllng the tendency nf the times
which fosters l too rapid growing up of
the girl, this school heartily cooperates
With the home In seeking to keep the
pupil a wholesome girl. The school has
been highly commended by parents in
this effort, fathers and mothers
realizing that extremes In dress as well
as extensive social activities are not
desirable and should not la" cultivated
by young growing girls.
The Barnard School for tlirls haa ita
two commodious buildings (newly reno
vated and equipped this fall), situated nt
West 141th street and Convent avenue.
This exceptionally tine residential sec
tion is practically free from the busy
city world; neither car llnea nor lare
businesses are here. Parents are grate
ful for this exclusive environment for
their growing girls. The large corner
structure of the girls' school is open to
sun and nir on all sides. Theodore Ed
ward Kyon. associated head mnster of
the school, announces that the Improve
ments made In both buildings will amply
take care of the increased registration.
All instructors, as well as thoae to be
added, will come under the examination
