A much Imnrovod tono was shown In
yesterday's curb market Besslon. In the
early part of tho trading substantial re-'
coverles from Monday's weakness were
reported In many standard Issues, due
mostly to short covering and buying by
thoso cIobo to Insiders In Issues which .
mnde largest gains.. Later In the day, I
when the demand slackened, there woro
alight recessions In n few groupi, but to
ward the closo renewed buying again
llftd prices.
White Oil was conspicuous In tho
early recovery, soiling several points
higher. Much of Monday's selling Is be
wared to have boen taken up by strong
Interests. Thero was little stock of
fered at yesterday's opening, and It
quickly recovered nil of Monday's loss.
Conditions at Homer are muoh better
and White Oil has met with particular
success In Its operations In Wheaton
acreage, In which recently It brought In
several wells.
Clovoland Motors was again active
and moved higher In the mornlmr, but
did not maintain Its advance. In Its
first eight months' operations the com
pany has produced more than 7,500 cars,
although Ita plant was only slightly
moro than half equipped and with the
ntd of only $1,400,000 of outside capital.
At present the company has a shipping
programmo that calls for 25,000 cars In
lD20 and by Juno 1 It Is expected that
finished cars will be turned out at the
rate of 3,000 a month.
An exceptionally strong spot toward
the closo of business was General As
phalt, which roso more than 3 points
from Its early low. Considerable pur
chases were made for short account
Hercules Paper shared In tho upward
movement, and good buying was re
ported In ' Goldwyn Pictures. An Im
portant announcement concerning the
company's operations Is expected
shortly.
A generally firm tone existed In the
metal group, particularly among tho
Tonopah issues. Labor troubles at .that
camp t seemed to have been settled. The
mines havo been reopened and conditions
are expected ta get back to normal In a
week or so. Kureka Holly changed
hands at a new high.

EGGS Receipts yesterday, 85,133 cases.
Arrivals were more liberal and there seems
to be some Imorovement In shipping: facili
ties from primary points. Much of the
high grade Northern stock Is going into
storage, and the offerings of such on the
open market are limited except at com
paratively Arm prices. For these high
qualities the market Is rated firm, but
there Is a surplus of average rood, medium
and lower grade eggs, which are selling
at comparatively easy prices, and the range
of values is unusually wide for the aeason.
Dirties In larger supply and easier. Nearby
white eggs are plentiful and there la a
large surplus beyond current trading needs,
which depend upon storage for an outlet.
Only a little of the fanciest stock reaches
our top quotation in a wholesale way.
