The continued strength ot th July

or 73 points net more. Additional July
notices, estimated at I.IOO bales, were
r ported, but made no Impression, and
that delivery established another new
Irish record, advancing to 41.3S&, or 101
points more than Tuesday's closing price
and more than 5ic. a pound from the
! lew level of the first notice day toward
the end of June. Closing prices were at
nearly the best point, with the market
firm at net advances of 103 to 161 points
on the summer months, and of 15 to SO
points on later deliveries.
The census report, showing domestic
mill consumption of S55.521 bales for
June, against 471,330 for June. 1919. was
considered a most satisfactory statement
In view of talk of mill curtailment, and
predictions of Increased business activity
In the autumn may have contributed to
the ndvance. Ski far this month about
1 5,800 bales have been tendered on July
contracts, and more than 3,000 bales
have been Inspected, but the large South
, em spot firms which were said to be
J stopping the bullc of the notices have
been shipping cotton out, and the certifi
cated stock Is smaller than It was on
July 1. 'Merchants arriving here from
the Southwest say that they expect a
heavy August movement, and It Is re
ported that a Houston exporter has
bought ISO bates of new crop cotton
which he Is offering for July shipment
The early cotton, however. Is of better
grades, comparatively scarce In the old
crop stock. Southern spot markets, as off),
dally reported, were unchanged to SO
