FINANCiAL AND COMMERCIAL MONEY MARKET. Ti esdat, April 25?fl P. M. Quotations for stocks at the first board, to-day, were lower than those current at the close yesterday. Hudson convertible bonds fell of! 1 per cent ; Pennsylvania Coal, >4 ; Cumberland Coal, X ; Parker Vein, X ; New York Central Railroad, X '> Panama Railroad, X i New Haven Railroad, IX ; Harlem Railroad, X- Cleveland and To ledo Railroad advanced X P? cent. There was a heavy feeling in the market, and no disposition to operate to nny extent is visible. We noticed to-day mora cash transactions than usual, probably caused by the bears taking in some ot their shorts. Crystal Palace has lately been much neglected, and prices have run down about as fast as they run uj>. A small clique of speculators pur chased pretty largely at first, and prices run up rapidly; but the advance brought out more stock than they wanted, and they soon stopped buying. The consequence is that prices fell off, and the stock is now nowhere. It would be difficult to sell much at any price. It is the general impression that the opening will be a failure, and that it will be a better time to sell the stock before the 4th of May than after. The steady decline in New Haven Railroad stock is creating some little excitement among holders. We do not recollect of the stock having before sold so low as 93X per cent. It has been as high as 115 percent. It probably is worth no more than it is now selling for. Three regular dividend days have been passed, and it is doubtful when payment will be re sumed. The road has a large local and through traffic, but its expenditures are a very heavy per cent of the gross earnings. Railroad bonds of all kinds appear to be gradually but steadily depreciating. We record almost daily large sales at lower prices. TheTC was a little more activity in the mining market, without change in prices. Lehigh has fallen to 2X, and is heavy at that. North Carolina is stationary at 2X- A n narkably tale bear sale of Dutchess Silver was made at 50 cents, seller nine months. Gardiner Geld is firm at 2X- The bids at the board were:? Bid. Afktd. Bid. Since the receipt of the telegraph;, despatch from Halifax, announcing the arrival of the Arabia..holders or breadstuff* in this market have l>een firmer, but no trans actions have been made. Cotton closed Orm, w ith an up ward tendency in prices. The advices from California are more favorable, and the receipts of gold dust show quite an Increase.
