FINANCIAL AND COMMERCIAL* l NU.UY MARKET. EfcrcnuY, June 18?P. M. Throughout the week ju*t closed there han been a very depressed feeling In the stock market, and the market value of all classes of securities has been steadily depre ciating. Dividend paying as well as non-dividend paying stocks have followed the same track, and those who have heen compelled to realize, have had to submit to great sacrifices. The bears have bad a fine harvest, but it it ?ur opinion that they are now sowing a crop, in putting out short contract#, that will not prove so productive. They are never satisfied with a decline in prices, no mat ter how great it may be, and frequently lose by a reac tion what a little caution would have secured. The demand for money for some days past has been very ac tive, and the market is decidedly stringent. The banks have been particularly cautious since tho last weekly statement made such a poor exhibit in the specie department; and we must look for a contraction in bank credit to some extent. The shipments of specie last week amounted to nearly a million and a half of dol lars, a sum we can ill afford to loce just at this time. Jt is fortunate for holders of stocks that dividend day is not far oil. The first of July generally disburses a targe amount of capital in the shape of dividends, and it will enable many to carry stocks who otherwise would be forced to realize. It has been reported 'lilt a delivery had been made by the seller of the live thousand shares of Nicaragua transit stock, sold in December last at 25 per cent, seller twelve months. This is mcorrect; only ? partial delivery him been made. Tho fo. tana to pur chaser has received but two thousand ihares, leaving three thousand shares undelivered. We learn that the books of this com] any will be closed in a few diys, when a dividend will be declared, payable on or about the 5th of July. The declaration of ft dividend will be accompanied with a report that wiil how the ability of the company to pay dividends h?roa: .- r regular semi* Manually. We are asuured that if the company hereafter tains annually half as much money as it haa during the past year, regular i-cuti annual dividends of four per coat can be paid. Albert H. Nicolay's semi weekly auction sale of stocks and bonds will take flace, an usual, on Monday, at half past 3 2 o'clock, at the Merchants' Exchange. The outward movement of specie from this port last wt ek was <[ui'.e active, as will bo seen by the annexed statement.? ffcnnjm ot SrF.rnt from tub Fort op Nn*r York. Bsrk K. S.
