Money is very easy indeed. Several of the
banker* are lenders at four per cent, and, were it
not that the Sub-'ireasury w prepared to receive
any amounts at four, the rate might fall still lower,
CertiHcatea of indebtedneen are better?98% bid.
Demand notes are also higher?7 a l/t.
Exchange was irregular again. The closing
rate was about 129 a 130. Cold advanced this
morning to 117*-^. and was afterward in demand at
tn% a J4; but at last it declined to 117)4 a */%.
At the opening of business this morning prices
were a sbaJe lower. There was some realising by
parties who were buyers at lower rates, and go
vernments declined New York Central
Pacific Mail %, Erie Erie preferred^, Michi
gan Central %, guaranteed )4, Toledo Rock
Island %. Bonds were moderately active, with
out chauge in prices. Alter the board the mar
ket was steady. There was no second board, as
usual on Saturdays.
The Board of Brokers passed a resolution this
morn.ng prohibiting time operations in gold. The
object was to prevent speculative operations in
the precious metal, to the detriment of the cur
rency. The majority ui iavor ol' the change was
Urge.
The busiuess of the Sub-Treasury to-day was as
follows:?

The exports by the steamers to-day were:?

The exchanges at the Bank Clearing House thia
morning were $23,780,915 30, and the balances
$1,606,572 16. The exchanges for the weekend
ing to-day were $162,650,811 30, being a daily
average of $27,108,468 57, against $26,844,632 34
for the week ending on Satarday last.
The Morris Canal Company has declared a semi
annual dividend of five per cent npon the pre
ferred stock, payable August 5. The receipts of
the company thus far thia year have been about
$10,000 leas than the corresponding time last year.
One of the Washington papers of yesterday
says:?
We have been informed that tbe $800,000 of United
States bonds which formed a part of the school rund of
Texas, and were deposited In the Treasury of that Stare,
were not long since withdrawn and sent abroad to be sold
As the government, we believe, has claimed that the arms
and other property of the United State* seized by Texas
when she jciued the rebellion will be regarded as a set oil
against those bonds, and as therefore the United States
will not pay them, foreign purchasers should be put on
their guard lest they innocently buy paper which has lost
its value. It might be well, in iact, supposing we have
understood the case corrcc'ly, if our Consuls at Havana,
London and Paris were authorized to give public notice or
the withdrawal of our government's liability for these
bonds.
