Of the eight hundred men who left this city one year ago, but about two hundred sur vive for duty. Cump fever and diarrhoua, with the bul lets of the enemy, have done the rest. Captain Huagland was in command of Company D of the Twelfth regiment,and w as an excellent officer He fought through nearly all the battles or the nresent war, and was *>ut thirty-two years of a^e at tho time of his duath. Captain Dodge was a native of Ncwburg, and was ?bout twenty-six years or age. He graduated at the Col lege or Physicians and .Surgeons in this city. Soon after txo wm np|minted Assistant Surgeon of the Seventy-first regiment, where bo served about live years. He was pro aent at the flint battle of Bull rue. After the return of the Seventy-first from their three months' service, he raised ? compauy for the 8lxty-?-i\tb regiment and went with jthem into the tWd. He bad a narrow escape from death jby typhoid rover last winter. He, however, recovered In time to rejoin his regiment before Yorktown. Ho was present In all the engagements befote Richmond and at JtntMtam, at which last place he elicited much praise by nia professional assistance to the wounded after the action.
