Tbe epidemic continued to abate in thia city ywur day, and it *u evident that the cholera ?u decidedly on the wane. Should ?? have a return of very hot weather, there may possibly be a temporary increase of cholera caves, bat all danger of an epidemic cholera in New York this summer is about over, and tbe people can keep their bouses clean, diet regularly and keep their minds eaay for the remainder of the season, ATTBsriuta a an batiob. Tbe Metropolitan Board of Health and thoee preeeat besides, were somewhat astonished yesterday even ing, when, at a meeting of the board, Dr. Crane, asserted that true reports of cholera cases bad not been given in New York, and further stated that double tbe number of cases had occurred to what had been reported. Be also declared that the epidemic was <)uite as general in New York aa In Brooklyn, but the fact was not faithfully recorded. The facts here show the above assertions to be untrue. Last week there were one hundred and six deaths from cbolera in Brook 1> n and the public institutions, while there were but eighty-eight deaths in New York, including the two cholera hospitals, Bsllcvue Hospital and the City Prison. There Is not tbo slightest doubt that New York has been healthier than tbe City of Churches, so far as tbe cholera was concerned. Brooklyn has been breathing her own poison in the filth of the Twelfth ward. Cbolera has been and is absolutely less in this city than there, and (imply because the local causes have been greater in Brooklyn than in our immediate midst. l>r. Harris, the Registrar of Vital Statistics, asserted that his report of cholera deaths is as correct as that of Brooklyn, aud as bs controls the registration in both cities he certaluly oucht to know.
