calling of the roll Mr. Donaldson arose anu staled that
he desired to call attention to a paragraph In the report
of the Executive Committee which he regarded
as being unduly biased. The subject referred to was
road, as follows:?"Numerous petitions, memorials
and resolutions have boon received from all parts of
the country sustaining tho action of the coranilsslon
in closing the Exhibition on Sunday, and similar
documents upon tho other side of the ijuo-lion
have also been received, which emanate tuainly Irom

A motion was made to lay this on the table, but Mr.
Donaldson slated lie did not ask action upon it, as lie

appointed to prepare the resolution of thanks

suggestion by Mr. Donaldson to add the name of
Vice President Kerry, for the admirable manner in
which be proslded over the Kourtu of July celebration,
led to a discussion in which it was contended by uiauy

given under government patronage and the Vice President
had represented the President in his otllcial ca,
pacity, a formal vote of thanks would bo superfluous

The line pavilion occupied by Messrs. Tiffany 4: Co.,
of New York, is one of Iho great attractions ol the Main
Building. Front morning till evening it is tilled with
delighted crowds. A more artistic and valuable
collection ol Jewelry and silverware,
probably was uever exhibited. The grand point of interest
is the case in which is shown a diamond necklace
the value ol which Is $80,000 in gold. This
resplendent circle dazzles like the constellation of
Orion in the sky. The diamond is a gem like u rising
star on a wintry sky, and here are diamond winch an i
empress might he proud to wear. Beside this marvel- |
lous ucckUco is a pair ol earrings, eucli adorned with a
single diamond, lurge, lustrous and pure, the cost of
which is $16,000. There is an aigrette, exquisitely
finished, the price ol which is $15,000. and a superb

$13,000 to spare for such luxuries. There are many

up. The report recommends the filial settlement and
cancellation of all these contracts.
