Tbo moat Important assemblage of the manager*
and International representatives at the great Kxbibitlon
was that wblcb took place to-niglit at Memorial
Hall, i* the Centennial grounds, for the purpose of
distributing and making public tbo results of the labor
or tbe Jurors ot Award?tbe officials whose reports
have such valuo in determining tbe merits of tbe
treasures of tbo world's lulr.
Toe ceremonial or turn evening wae notable ror tue
I number of distinguished gentlemen It brought together
the mingled oillctul uud personal character of tbo
meeting and the period harmony and good feeling
Which characterized the proceeding*. Tho scene in
the hall was very pleasing and brilliant The walls and
balconio* wcro hung with the flags and colors of
many nations In graceful festoons. Tbo guosts
and participants filled the scats on the floor and the
spectators tho gallery. Large chandeliers and massive
candelabra added their bright lights and vases of flowers
made the air fragrant with pertuuio.

nations, the President of the Unitod
States Centennial Comiulsaion, tho l'rcaidcnl
of the Hoard of Hi nance, the Governors of
tho States, the diplomatic corps and the
sfheors of tho liodoubtable Centennial Guard.
As the procession passed along tho orchestra, conducted
by Carl lloiuemaan, played the Centennial
inarch. When all were In plnco the L'nltod States Centennial
Commissioner Daniel J. Morrell, o( l'ennsyl
can in, took the chair, and tho mustc was hushed, as
the ltov. Henry A. Uoardmau, D. D., of Philadelphia,
rose to oiler prayer. While the company stood with
bowed heads the clcrgymau asked a blessing upon the
labors of tho commission, and prayed that this results
ot the Exhibition might bo prod native of great good.
Tho Temple quartet of Huston, inulo voices, Messrs.
Fit/, Fcssendou, Cook and Kydcr, sung a selection from
Schubert's mass, ''The Hespouso to l'rsyer." Alter
this was sung Mr. Morrell delivered anaddrcrs.
Then tho orchestra playod the national airs, some ot
which caused considerable merriment, especially when
St. Patrick's Day in the Morning" was found to ba
among them, probably meant as tho national air of
Ireland. When the anthems of the principal nations
were played, international coartoiy wu shown by tho
general applauso ot the company.
When this music ceased United States Commissioner
Alfred T. Goshorn, the Director General of Ike Exhibition,
made some remarks, which were frequently interrupted
by applauso.
The Boston Uuartet thon sans a selection for four
to.cot from '-Los Knfants do raris," by Adolpbe Adam
aud received so much applause thai they lavorod Ihs
company with Tennyson's "Uoware."
Then came tho Important event of tho evening, the
presentation of tho awards by Qonoral Joseph R.
Uawiey. l'resldont or the United States Contennial
Commission. Every eyo was turned upon him as he
roso iruui his seal on tho platlorm. ills short speech
was frequently applauded. When he had finished
peaking the names of the different countries were
Killed in alphabetical order, and the Chief
Commissioner from each country came forward and
rece.ved, with smiles and gracious acdnowledgmonts,
the roll ol papers tied with red, white and blue ribbon.
The uaiuo of every Important nation was received
with good natured applause; the representatives
ot Great Britain, France, England, Germany and
Brazil, receiving quite an ovation as they approacned
the platform.

When this ceremony had concluded the Temple
quartet sang **A Soronado," by Dudley Buck, after
which the band played a promenade. The guests
Slowly disporsed, and so ended one of the most pleasant
events of the great Exhibition.
