As the procession passed along tho orchestra, conducted by Carl lloiuemaan, played the Centennial inarch. When all were In plnco the L'nltod States Centennial Commissioner Daniel J. Morrell, o( l'ennsyl can in, took the chair, and tho mustc was hushed, as the ltov. Henry A. Uoardmau, D. D., of Philadelphia, rose to oiler prayer. While the company stood with bowed heads the clcrgymau asked a blessing upon the labors of tho commission, and prayed that this results ot the Exhibition might bo prod native of great good. Tho Temple quartet of Huston, inulo voices, Messrs. Fit/, Fcssendou, Cook and Kydcr, sung a selection from Schubert's mass, ''The Hespouso to l'rsyer." Alter this was sung Mr. Morrell delivered anaddrcrs. Then tho orchestra playod the national airs, some ot which caused considerable merriment, especially when St. Patrick's Day in the Morning" was found to ba among them, probably meant as tho national air of Ireland. When the anthems of the principal nations were played, international coartoiy wu shown by tho general applauso ot the company. When this music ceased United States Commissioner Alfred T. Goshorn, the Director General of Ike Exhibition, made some remarks, which were frequently interrupted by applauso.
