CATHOLICS AND SOCIALISM 'A Restatement of the Attitude of the Cath olic Church Toward Socialism By Rev. John A. Ryan, D.D., of the Catholic University With a foreword by Cardinal Gibbons First Article in The Evening Mail Monday, February 25 GOLF HONORS FOR PHILADELPHIA GIRL Miss Campbell Wins Florida Championship by Beating Mrs. Fclber. Special Detpateh to Tns Soy. Paim Beach, Fla.. Feb. 23. The woman's golf title ?br the State of Flor ida this afternoon fell to Miss Ethel Campbell of Philadelphia, whose reputa tion as a player has taken her Into many . difficult contests, Including the national, In which sho once advanced as far as the semi-finals. Mrs. C. J. Felber of Lacrosse put up a fins battle against her. Much of the time the match seemed well In doubt. It ended 2 up and 1 to play. In tho second division Mrs. John M. Rutherford of Tuxedo was the winner. Mrs. Brett, who had come through a nineteen hole match the day before, was bentnn, 4 and 3. Up to the finals Mrs. Felber, the run ner up, had been the superior of every player she had met. She eliminated .Mrs. Ada Norfleet, Mrs. George L. Car negie and Mrs. Douglas W. Paige, 3-2, 3-1 and 3-2 respectively. Mrs. ,Felber forced Miss Campbell to a stiff pace several times and besides holding tho lead In the early part of the contest squared tho mntch as late as the fourteenth hole. On the fourteenth both fumbled, but tho Philadelphia girl pulled herself out. She started poorly enough by driving Into a bunker and on her second shot was pver the green, but found two putts sufficient, going down in 4. Mrs. Felbert tea short of the bunker, but also ran her approach over. Though she made a hard try for a tie sho was not quite able to negotiate It. The fifteenth found Miss Campbelt 2 up and 2 to go. Sho was dead to the hole In 3 and took an easy 4. Mies Fel ber' a drive was a beauty, but her ap proach fell a little short of the bunker, which was her finish. Both players started off well for tho last hole of the match. Miss Camubcll's long driving power helped her. Sho waa well up to the green In 3, almost taking a 4 as phe rimmed the cup. Miss Felber halved the hole In S and lost the match and title. TIGERS MAY PLAY HARVARD AND YALE Princeton Considering Three Came Baseball Series. Princeton, N. J., Feb. 23.
