ball playing residents of Great Keck,
lb I., to-day for the benefit of the To
bacco Fund. You may remember that
on the Great Neck grounds a short time
ago the Hitchcock nine did terrible
things to Ned Wayburn's team from
the "Follies." They want to kill all ball
playing ambition for that section of
Long Island before they meet Way
burn' nine again on the Polo Grounds
within a few weeks.
Another Instance : Beginning to-morrow
morning the Salisbury golf links at
Meadow Brook, L. I., will declare a Sun
8moke Week. All the links' receipts and
the clubhouse and restaurant receipts
will be turned over to the fund by
Ernest Osborne, secretary of the Salis
bury Plains Corporation.
And next Saturday night the writers
and artists of Greenwich Village will
give a farewell ball In Webster Hall,
119 East Eleventh street, for the fortu
nate young fellows of their set who re
cently were graduated from Plattsburg
and other training camps. The receipts
from the sale of boxes will go to the
Tobacco Fund. It you had occasion to
be present at any of the festive occa
sions given by the versatile geniuses of
the village in Webster Hall last winter
you will know that this ought to be the
Jppnotch occasion.
More to Play Ball.
Then thero Is that ball game that Is
to be played next Sunday on St John's
Field, Brooklyn, between the Bushwlck
Seniors and the Commercial Triangle
team to boost The Su.v Tobacco Fund.
These young fellows are lightning
players and will put up a contest that
will be remembered.
Don't forget the other big game that
Is to be played the Sunday following
In the City College Stadium between the
fit. Aloyslus and Macomb A. C. teams.
This Is the contest that has been ar
ranged by George W. J. Halpln, secre
tary of the Manhattan College League.
There will be no admission for any of
thee games, but the players and their
mends win ooom me xuna as rar as is

There are several other big enter
prises under way, The foremost of
these will be announced to-morrow. The
glorious thing about them all is the
splendid spirit that Is animating them
alL These frolics have but one single
